Hi I'm Shelly

I am a Registered Nurse. I have been married for 12 years and I have five kids. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a mother of 5 kids, 3 girls and two boys. I have been married for 12 years to a wonderful husband. When we first got married we were both attending college. I became a Registered Nurse and he graduated in sales. I have worked in extended care facilities and also a hospital. I found my favorite spot taking care of post partum mothers and newborns. I worked there for eight years before my husband got a new job that moved our family out of state. I have recently decided to learn how to sew, I just made a pioneer costume for my daughter for Halloween. I am planning on going back to work in a couple months after the birth of my last baby. I also enjoy exercising to stay in shape. My most important hobby is my family. I love being with my kids and husband. We enjoy camping, hiking, fishing and being together.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into the Church. I come from a long history of Mormons. Many of my ancestors came across the plains of America to settle in Utah. Growing up learning the gospel principles was a great advantage to me. I have always believed. When I was about 14 I decided I needed to gain a testimony of Christ and Joseph Smith and Heavenly Father. I fasted and prayed to Heavenly Father to know if this church and this gospel were true. As I finished my prayer a primary song came into my mind. "I know my father lives, and loves me too." I felt the spirit deep in my heart and I knew this was my answer. I have never looked back and doubted, why should I, I received an answer and I hold to that. I am so grateful that now I can raise my own children learning about Christ and his church. I am grateful that they will have Christ and his atonement to help them through the challenges in life and will learn to rely on Him as I have. I am so grateful that our family will be together forever through this restored gospel. That blessing alone testifies to me that this is the true church and that Heavenly Father is real, because he wants us to be happy. And I am.

How I live my faith

I live my faith through daily scripture study, prayers and attending church. I am also able to bear my testimony to my children and others in our community. The way I act and treat others reflects upon who I am and upon my church. I try to be an example of Christ in all I do. I also live my faith by showing what I believe in my home. I have pictures of Christ on the wall and of temples and of our prophet. I have books about what we believe in our shelfs. At church I serve others by helping to plan monthly activities for the women to help us become better people and more Chirstlike and learn skills to help us keep our homes in order. I have had the opportunity in the past to teach children in our church as well, and to help with youth summer camps.
