Hi I'm Becca

I am a grandmother of four girls, a Geology major, and I am a Mormon.

About Me

I was a police officer until I was injured and unable to continue in that field of work. My life changed because I believe Heavenly Father had other plans for me. I attend UN-Reno as a geology major at the Mackay School of Mines and Engineering. I love spending time with my family and friends. Love camping, exploring caves, and rock hounding. I love to be creative so I knit, embroider, sew, do calligraphy, paint and draw. I am a mother of four beautiful little girls who live in California and Hawaii. I come from a devout Catholic family, however I was not fulfilled spiritually until I became a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. I am the first one in my family to become a Mormon.

Why I am a Mormon

I struggled as a young adult with religion having grown up in another church. I visited several different churches with family and friends, however I never found a church that appealed to me. By my early 30s I had pretty much given up on ever finding that peace I so desired. While visiting Salt Lake City to do genealogy on a family vacation I reluctantly took a tour of Temple Square. Actually, my Mom wanted to take the tour, but I just wanted to stay at the Family History Library to work on my ancestors. Her coaxing worked and I am now forever grateful for the silent prompting to take that tour. The missionary said things that caught my attention and helped me to make connections to my genealogical efforts. I knew I had to do my family history but never realized how important it truly was to my ancestors that I complete it. I returned home and anxiously awaited contact by the LDS missionaries. I was so anxious that before they could make contact with me I had visited a local LDS bookstore and started reading about the Church. After receiving the lessons from the missionary sisters, I prayed as directed and for the first time felt the Holy Spirit touch my heart. I knew immediately that this was the true Church. This Church of Jesus Christ is undoubtedly my home. It is where my soul feels comfort through the Scriptures, through the guidance of our Prophet and through the fellowship of my brothers and sisters. I am finally at peace.

How I live my faith

Service is probably the best way to live in my faith. I believe in serving others is the best expression of my faith in Jesus Christ. I strive to help others while being a good example. Being honest, kind, patient and loving comes easy when you have faith in your life.

Do you really believe there is a prophet like Moses alive today?

Becca
I absolutely believe that Our Heavenly Father would not leave his children here without a Prophet to guide and inspire them. I believe that by having a living prophet our Father in Heaven can continue to direct us to be better people and to strive for eternal life in His Kingdom. I know as a parent I would never just drop off my children somewhere without some type of communication or connection to keep tabs on them. So I don't believe that our Heavenly parent would do that either. Show more Show less
