Hi I'm Cynthia

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a convert, I got baptised on January 8th 2011 when I was 16 years old. I'm the only member of my family but even thou my family are not members, I know God won't leave me alone ! I like learning new stuff mostly language. My first language is french. I live in Québec, Canada.

Why I am a Mormon

Because I found that the church of Jesus Christ of latter days Saints are the perfect restablished church on the earth. I know it's the only one. Plus the church have been changing my life before I get to be an adult and live my own life doing mistake I didn't even know that were mistakes. I always knew that the things the church teaches us are true. I've been feeling it since I'm a little child. I've been impressed by how people act together and by the fact of the big family we are calling each other by Sister and Brother. I also think the structure is really smart and there's everything for a reason.

How I live my faith

I like to do my seminary and learn my matresses by heart. I really like going to church on Sunday. To live my faith, I always try to keep my language appropriate for the Lord. I try to be as much as an example for my friends and my family, but I think the most important thing is to keep working on ourselves. Even thou we get the forgiveness of our sins, we still have to work to get everyday as close as to the Christ perfection we can. It's pretty hard to always choice to right but I know that will bring me farther than just choose to be lazy.

What is faith?

Cynthia
I like to compare the faith to the wind. It is something you can't see, or smell. Wind has no color, no smell, no texture but it can put our life upside down. Wind is so strong that is can destroy lot of things. You know when you drive your bike and the wind keeps pushing you. If you have the wind in your back then it helps you to go faster but if your face to the wind it is harder to get where you want to get I compare it to confront your faith. Faith is something that we HAVE to get if we want to get through the hard times. If you keep nourishing your testimony then you keep progressing and the temptations get easy to ignore because your testimony gets stronger and more precious then anything else. Show more Show less

Do Mormons only help Mormons?

Cynthia
Actually, I can pretty much answer to this question just by the sad things that happened in Québec before summer 2011. The river have been flood a big part of Québec beside the line of U.S.A. The church organised a service day and they was OVER 300 members of the church going to St-Jean-sur-Richelieu and around to help everyone who got flooding. Most people that have been helped are not member of the church. So no, members of the church don't only serve members of the church Show more Show less

How do I become a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (Mormon Church)?

Cynthia
First of all, before to filled up all the papers, you have to be sure that is what you want. When you get baptised you contract convenants with the Lord that you will do everything possible to serve him and more... It is really important to keep those convenants because that's how you'll be saved. I had the (chance) that my parents signed the papers for my baptism only 1 year after a investigated in the church. I say the chance, because I took the TIME to build my testimony and to have relationships around me to help to get through the bad times after my baptism. The secret, I would say it's truly the time. Take your time because to build a true and solid testimony takes time. I would also say that being a lds member is not only going to church on sunday. It is everyday that you have to be the example and the light for everyone around you. So the point I wanted to say is that you have to work to be the member that the prophet tell us and not be a figurant member because maybe your bishop won't know but you and the Lord will know and that will be hard on you on the last day. Then finally when you are ready to do those sacrifices (not easy by the way) you are ready to be get baptised. Show more Show less

What is the Law of Chastity?

Cynthia
The law of chastity is something really important that we have to follow. No touching the sacred part of the other person's body BEFORE to get married. The most important thing about the law of chastity is not that have sexual rapports are bad. Sex is bad only if you do it before marriage.Even thou you are married, you should continue to follow the law of chastity like not looking at porno or having sexual rapport with yourself. . Sexuality pleasure have been giving to us so we can have fun procreating and to also strenght the relationship between the husband and the wife. We think we shouldn't look at pornography, or have sexual rapport with ourself. We shouldn't see our friends naked, we shouldn't get on each other, we shouldn't do things to wake up the feelings inside of us because they are hard to calm after that and the law of chastity becomes ALMOST impossible to respect if they is not selfcontrol. The law of chastity is important to follow because our body is a temple and has been giving to us so we can serve the Lord on the earth. That is why we have to take care of it because it is our way to do what we do. Show more Show less
