Hi I'm Jennifer

I'm a wife, soccer mom, avid reader and music fan. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I have lived in California, Utah, Idaho, and Arizona. I am a wife and mother of 4 children (3 great boys and 1 beautiful red-headed daughter). I graduated from BYU in English, but I am lucky enough to be a stay at home mom for my family right now. I am passionate about music. I play a little piano, guitar and bass, but my weakness is rock concerts. My favorite bands include Muse, Incubus, Death Cab for Cutie, Family Force 5, Radiohead, William Fitzsimmons, Sufjan Stevens, Coldplay, Arcade Fire...it's hard to stop there. My husband and teenage son also play some mean guitar! I am an avid reader (thus, majoring in English). When I was younger, I thought I would be a writer, but I've discovered that I'm a much better reader than writer. My favorite books are often classics such as Jane Eyre, Pride and Prejudice and Of Mice and Men, but I also love current books like Twilight, The Night Circus and The Road. I enjoy hiking and the outdoors. As well as being a writer, I wanted to be an ornithologist when I was young and study birds. Our family likes to go camping as well as up to Lake Powell every summer and enjoy the beauty while having a crazy time out on the water! I have been able to travel a little. My favorite vacation was along the Mediterranean coast, especially Italy. Portofino is one of the most beautiful places on earth. We are a loud and active family, but there's A LOT of love in our home!

Why I am a Mormon

I'm a Mormon because I have found the greatest personal happiness through this faith. While I was raised in this religion, I have discovered for myself in a real personal way that the TRUTH lies here. I believe in the Bible and thus, I believe that God continues to teach and guide us through scriptures such as the Book of Mormon and modern day prophets. I know that some people struggle with the story of how Joseph Smith found the Book of Mormon as gold plates and translated them, but to me, this is as miraculous as Moses parting the Red Sea and Noah living through a flood that covered the earth. I feel that I am an open minded person, yet when I try to deny the truths of the gospel, I feel upside down. I know that Heavenly Father has provided a way for us through Jesus Christ and everything about that makes sense to me. I am grateful for this knowledge of the truth.

How I live my faith

Right now I serve as a den leader for Cub Scouts and it is a lot of fun! I think the Boy Scouting program is powerful in training up our boys to be responsible and hard working men. I have also worked with the children and teenage girls in our church. They have taught me as I have taught them. The young people in our world have a lot to deal with at school, in the media and with their peers. I am very proud of how most of them live their lives and the choices they make. It is very important to me for our communities that moral foundations are kept and created for future generations. I live my faith in that I love others. Everyday I want to show love and charity to those around me and teach my children to do the same (even better than their mom!). As we love others, we show love for God.
