Hi I'm Mario

Born in Mexico but raised in Houston, Texas. Grew up in a family of 5. I love to spend time with family and friends. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I was born in a small town in Durango, Mexico. I spent only a year there before my family immigrated into the United States. I was a baby. I have a younger brother and an older sister and of course two parents. I grew up without knowing any other relatives. Aside from my immediate family and an uncle, that’s all I had in the states. But after 2002 I was able to meet cousins and Uncles I didn’t know I had. At the age of 13, I received the opportunity to go and visit Mexico and since then I’ve taken every chance I could to go back and share my love with them. I love soccer. I`m always up for a little match of 3 on 3. Family is important to me. I love to spend time playing sports, board games or watching movies with Family. My favorite subjects are math and science. I hope on studying Electrical Engineering soon. I`ve dreamt of living in Spain or France since I visited them one spring break. I can currently speak Spanish, English, and I`m working on my French... and I don’t plan on stopping there. I dream of a job where I have the opportunity to use my linguistic gifts that God has given me and any others I can achieve.

Why I am a Mormon

Why wouldn`t I be a Mormon!? This church has blessed my life and I`ve seen the difference it has made in me thus far. I remember the joy I had the first day we were able to cross the borders and pay a visit to family members in Mexico. One of the first places we visited was my mother’s parent’s house, several days before Christmas. Her family is all catholic, so we didn`t know what the reaction would be in our part neither in theirs when we first entered. As I walked into a room full of cousins, aunts and uncles, and grandparents that I didn`t know, I was filled with happiness. And not only that, the glare in my mother’s eyes as she saw her mother and her father for the first time in many years illuminated my heart. Families! To me, it’s all about families in Gods church. Even though I had several seconds of getting to know them, I knew we were all relatives. Despite religion, I immediately had love for them. I knew we were not just blood relatives, but that we came from a heavenly father. This happiness I felt there was only temporal. As soon as we left to return home at the end of the trip I felt something empty. I realised there was a hole in my heart that I didn’t know was there before. Just as that, we are separated from our Heavenly Father. He wants us to be happy and to return to live with Him together, together as families. The importance of family is high to me. I wanted more. Growing up in the church I learned that families are forever. They can be together for all eternity. And for the joy and happiness to continue for all eternity, there has to be a bond made. I know that by living the things taught by the scriptures and by the Gospel of Jesus Christ I can live with that perfect joy and that perfect love I felt that day. That bond can be made. And that is what drives me to live and become better day by day and to follow the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

How I live my faith

Living your faith is the way to go! You really aren`t in your church if you don’t practice its teachings. Jesus taught us to not be as the hypocrites. Me, myself, I like to help others. I love to go to church and spend time with friends. And when I’m there, I’m always willing to lend a helping hand with the church maintenance. If I see a broken light or someone setting up tables, you can count on me to be there helping out. Likewise, if there’s an activity that is going to happen I like to help with the setting up. This church is a church of volunteers. One way i help others in our ward is by going and visiting people at their own homes. We see what their needs are help them in any way we can. We also remind them of who they are as members of the church by leaving a little spiritual message. I love teaching in peoples home. it’s a great way to get to know those around you. At the moment I’m doing a little more than just fixing lights and going to the homes of members. I’m a full time volunteer for the church. I’m serving those in Quebec, members and non-members, for a couple of years. I do volunteer service and invite those around me to learn more about Jesus Christ and the plan that God has prepared for us. My life is consecrated to the lord for this time and then I plan on continuing to live my faith as I continue in my life.
