Hi I'm Ashley

I'm an illustrator, a writer, and a mother— and I'm a Mormon!

About Me

I graduated from BYU with a degree in illustration, and I sometimes like to write in my spare time— but mostly, I'm a mom of two pretty great kids! Life is hectic and ever-changing; in trying to find balance, I find that I feel the most complete when I'm striving to live according to gospel principles and grow closer to God and my Savior. In spite of illnesses I struggle with such as an anxiety disorder, I'm able to remain optimistic (usually!) because I know that there is a life beyond this one, and there is purpose to suffering in this mortal realm. There will be joy everlasting and it's all because of Jesus Christ.

Why I am a Mormon

When anxiety leaves me feeling discouraged and despairing, faith is what keeps me going and gives me hope. Because I know that God lives and loves me, and His Son atoned on behalf of my sins and suffering, I also have to believe that— somehow!— things will all be well in the end. The gospel of Christ resonates deeply with me; I know it's true and I can't deny it. The fundamental principles our church and scriptures teach— of Heavenly Parents, of a loving Son and His everlasting Atonement, of a great plan of eternal happiness— give meaning and direction to everything else in my life, and have brought me comfort and the will to keep going when times get tough.

How I live my faith

I seek our Father through prayer and through priesthood blessings (often from my husband or my father), as well as studying the scriptures and listening to the words of his prophets and apostles at conference. I'm able to re-center my life each week on the Sabbath by partaking of the holy sacrament and participating in church meetings, as well as things like keeping a journal and learning about family history.

Are Mormons Christians?

We are absolutely Christians! There's a reason we're called the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. We worship and praise Jesus Christ as our Lord and King, and it is through His grace and Atonement that all mankind can be saved and live eternally. We pray in His name and He is the very center of our Church. The Book of Mormon is a testament additional to the Bible of His life, divinity, and atoning sacrifice. Show more Show less
