Hi I'm Emily

I'm a lucky wife and mom of 5. I love to sing, play tennis, and try new recipes. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I was raised in Utah and Idaho, but our family has become transplants to the southeast. It has been an awesome experience for both parents and kids, as we have made new friends and experienced a new region of the country. I love opera, classical music and Broadway. I love to perform when I have the chance, but most of my singing is for my kids, and I wouldn't have it any other way. Something fun we love to do as a family is play tennis. Our kids like playing(mostly), and I love that I can teach them. They do get frustrated sometimes, (don't we all?) but hopefully they can learn to love it in spite of it's challenges. As a parent, I often feel I'm relearning these life lessons along side my children.

Why I am a Mormon

I was blessed to be raised in the Mormon church, and I felt at an early age that God loved me and wanted me to be happy. I feel the most peace and joy when I'm reading the Book of Mormon and Bible, and when I'm trying to live my life by their words. I have received a personal witness through the Holy Ghost that the Book of Mormon is true testament of Jesus Christ. I know by that same Spirit that the fullness of the Gospel of Jesus Christ and His Priesthood are restored to the earth, and we have a living Prophet on the earth who guides His church. This is His church.

How I live my faith

I teach music to the children at our church (ages 3-11). It is the most rewarding job. When we sing the songs about our Heavenly Father, his love for us, and His son, I feel in a small way I see the children the way He sees us. They are truly precious children of God, and through righteous music, I am helping put their little feet on the path to Him.

How can we stop the spread and influence of pornography?

In today's world, we have to be open with our kids about what pornography is and how it can harm them. They nee to understand that they are spirit children of God, and the choices they make now will determine their happiness in this life, and the life to come. Teach them to "crash and tell," to walk away, to say no. We can repent of our sins, and be completely clean through the atonement of Jesus Christ, but there are things we cannot "un-see" and consequences that will effect our relationships and our lives. We need to start early in the home to show our children how to "put on the whole armour of God." This is ground zero; we start in the home. Show more Show less
