Hi I'm Kara

I'm Canadian, I'm an aspiring artist at BYU-I, I'm a lifeguard, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am currently attending Brigham Young University-Idaho, where I am majoring in Illustration. I also work as a lifeguard at home. I fence, I kayak, as well as any other obscure sport I can try. I love being outside and competing against others. I'm a total nerd, playing video games and never finishing them. My favorite thing to do is to read as many books as I can get my hands on and to do as much art as I can. I have two younger sisters, and sometimes being the oldest can be hard, but there are definite benefits. I like being the trailblazer and example for their sisters, and I love when they look up to me.

Why I am a Mormon

I've always been a member of the LDS church. But it was only when I found my own testimony that I was actually converted. Growing up in the church helped me understand things even when I was little. When I got older, I got to participate in many youth activities including girl's camp and Moroni's Quest. These solidified my testimony. I know that this church is true. I know that God loves me and he listens to anything I have to tell him. I know that any trials that are put in my way are to make me grow stronger. I have a testimony that there is a life after this one, and that we are here to find a mission on Earth and then fulfill that mission. I know what the apostles and prophets speak is for our good. God has placed them here for us.

How I live my faith

When I'm not at college, I'm at home, raising money for education. The prophets have counseled us to stay out of debt and get an education, and I am going to try my hardest to follow that counsel. In my ward, I've been called into the nursery where I help look after toddlers in our ward. This calling has really helped me appreciate children, and has grown a desire in myself to have children of my own someday. I also like to live my faith by keeping the law of chastity. I won't have sex until I'm married, and I will dress modestly so I can help others keep themselves morally clean. I plan to marry in the temple with my eternal companion someday. I plan to raise my kids in the gospel and have a strong family.
