Hi I'm Jonathan

I'm a massage therapist. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I've moved around quite a bit and have made friends in several states. There are great people in everywhere I have been. I love to learn new things for instance, being Culinary Arts graduate. I also received my certificate of completion for Massage Therapy and am a licensed massage therapist. I've worked as a roofer, bus-boy, galley cook, accounting clerk, volunteer firefighter, and a few others. I love reading, hiking, cooking, drawing and swimming.

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised as a Mormon and have struggled at times to with my commitment to the Gospel. It isn't so much the people, although I have great friends and most members are really good people. It's not so much the classes or the activities, although they are instructive and fun. I think what has kept me coming back is that it's true. The stability and strength the Gospel of Jesus Christ gives to my life thru the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saint is amazing. When everything else in my life seems to fall apart, as I have turned to God and the scriptures I am drawn back to the church and despite the craziness of my life, I feel safe. The Book of Mormon has helped me grow by giving me examples of great people and prompting questions within myself that give me pause to meditate and contemplate. I am grateful for prophets of God who live on the earth today, God gives us knowledge thru many avenues but all the pieces seem to come together here.

How I live my faith

Being a Christian means living your faith, as a member of the church I try my best to do that thru service to others. I have served in youth groups, teaching and serving them. I visit the some homes of members of my congregation monthly to help strengthen and encourage them in the gospel. I assist when those around me need help moving. I volunteer at food banks and other service projects.

What is a ward/stake/branch?

A ward, stake or branch are all organizational terms within the church. A branch (like the branch of a tree it's still growing) is a small unit of members (congregation) from the local geographical area. A ward is a larger unit of members from a the local geographical area. A Stake encompasses a group of wards and/or branches within a larger local area. Show more Show less

Who wrote the Book of Mormon?

The Book of Mormon, like the Bible was written by prophets but those in the Book of Mormon lived on the American continents. It was compiled similar to the Bible into one book. Just as the Bible has been translated into many languages so too has the Book of Mormon. The first translation for the Book of Mormon into a modern day language was done by Joseph Smith, Jr. The contents of the Book of Mormon speak of Christ and God's love for his children. It, in companionship with the Bible, gives us great knowledge of what we can do to return to our Father in Heaven. It also gives us strength to follow the path that would lead us there.
