Hi I'm Heather

I'm from California, I'm a college student, and I'm a Mormon!

About Me

My name is Heather and I'm a junior in college. I enjoy all the things that this world has to offer like camping, swimming, sports, and just anything new around me. I love to play tennis, even though I'm not the best! I've been married for 8 months and I am so grateful to have found someone that I want to spend eternity with. Together we can create a beautiful family and learn and grow all that we can. I love to play guitar and I hope someday to become a song writer. I love to hear music and listen carefully to the words. Even though I'm going to become an elementary teacher, I still want to write all that I can, and I have hopes to write a novel one day!

Why I am a Mormon

My choice to be in this gospel was all on my own. My grandparents were converts to the church and my mother and father raised us as Christians and took us to our LDS church every Sunday. At the age of about 11, I knew that I had to decide on my own whether this was the church for me or not. At about the age of 12, I felt so good about the gospel and I knew that I was in the right direction, but my testimony was still lacking. I didn't really have a testimony of the Savior and his atonement, which is one of the most important things to have in a testimony. I kept going to church steadfastly with my mom in hope that my testimony would continue to grow. I gained a knowledge of prayer, fasting, and tithing very quickly and I knew my Heavenly Father loved me. Little did I know that I wouldn't gain a true testimony of the Savior until 5 years later. At about age 17, I really wanted the light a truth from my Savior. I prayed and prayed to find out if what I was learning every week and every morning before school (Early-Morning Seminary) was true. In one of my birthday interviews with our bishop, I talked with him about the things that were troubling me. I told him that I wasn't sure if I had a testimony of Christ and his atonement. He told me that Christ is trying to come into everyone's life, but we just need to let him in. He also said that if you are praying for his light, he will hear you and he will give it to you. We were studying the old testament in my seminary class and learning a lot about the savior. I enjoyed parables and the many things that the scriptures had, but one morning something stood out to me more than ever before. I was walking into the classroom and I saw that my teacher had filled the walls with pictures of Christ from his birth to his crucifixion. I felt the spirit more than ever before, and it was telling me, he found you. He did. He found my little soul and he wanted it to feel loved. I'd never felt more love than ever before.

How I live my faith

I love this gospel and will do anything that I can to be a disciple of His church. It's a welcoming environment that is open to everyone, and I love that about this church.
