Hi I'm Claire

I've been called to serve the Lord in Armenia, I love to sing, and I'm a mormon.

About Me

Born and raised in Seattle I have grown up loving the rain and grey, misty days. I think its the endless days of drizzle that make me more appreciative of the sunny days of life. Growing up as one of four girls, my childhood was a mishmash of piano recitals and dancing along with hollywood musicals. I graduated from High School and am now a junior studying history at BYU, with plans to attend law school and one day become at Women's Advocate and Family Law Mediator. I sing with the BYU Concert Choir, I recently returned from studying in Paris, I love to read, love to bake and I love to have long conversations about life's many questions. Life has changed each year I've lived but the constant thread of music and my testimony of the Restored Gospel of Jesus Christ have remained the same throughout my life. At the age of 8 my mom heard me sing in a Martin Luther King day assembly at school and from then on she knew that music was going to be a big part of my life. From that time forth I have been in a myriad of musical groups, singing in small churches to grand performing halls like Benaroya in Seattle and Carnegie Hall in New York. My testimony and my love of music are inextricably connected.

Why I am a Mormon

I'm a Mormon because I know that the teachings of the LDS Church are true. I have felt encircled in the arms of the love of the Savior and know that He is my Redeemer. His atoning sacrifice made possible my eventual return to live with Him. I want to be like Him and through the revealed doctrines received by ancient and modern Prophets. Christ established His church on the earth, but after his Resurrection and eventual ascension, the Priesthood authority He established was lost. By the grace of God that power was restored to the earth through Joseph Smith. He restored the church as it was in Christ's time and He translated by the gift and power of God a record of the visitation of Christ on the American continent in the Book of Mormon. I'm a Mormon because this is the way that I can best emulate the Savior. I want to be kind, gracious and faithful and it's the principles and ordinances of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter day Saints that teaches me how to do this.

How I live my faith

I live my faith through a series of triumphs and failures. I am not perfect and make a lot of mistakes but through the process of Repentance and the grace of God, I can right my wrongs and try to improve myself each day of my life. I try my best to be service oriented and kind, looking for opportunities to lift others' spirits and ease someone else's pain. I live my faith by attending church each Sunday, but also trying my best to live my life every other day of the week walking in the footsteps of the Savior. I don't have any ground-breaking achievements that make my any more special than anyone else but I try to use the gifts which I have been given to bless the lives of others. Music is the way that I feel I can serve others through inviting them to take a break from their everyday lives and feel something transcendent that pulls their thoughts towards Heaven. The Lord has blessed me with a gift and it is through using that gift that I can best show Him that I desire to be like Him. Right now, I am serving the Lord as a full-time missionary. I see this time as a chance to share the joy I have received through living the Gospel with the people around me. I look forward to arriving in the country of Armenia and helping those people come unto Christ.
