Hi I'm Ashley

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm 25 yrs old. I'm married & we're having our first child in January. I graduated from college with a psychology degree. I'm the youngest of two kids. I grew up with just one parent. My dad died when I was a baby and my mom was able to raise us in a happy, loving home. My mom is a convert to the church. We started attending this church when I was 6 years old. I have always known that I come from a small family but I have always felt like I've been raised with a huge family. The people in this church have been my second family from the time I was little until now. I love to travel. I got that from my mom. We are always planning and saving for the next big or small trip. If it is a road trip or a huge week long vacation, count me in. I love learning about different places and trying new things. I was able to work and live in England before I got married. Also, I love all sports. I'm a bit competitive and so it's not always a "game" to me. I love to watch sports but mostly I love to be involved in/playing sports (soccer). I love being outdoors and hiking or running. There is something so peaceful about nature! The only thing better than sports, photography, eating out ;) , and/or hiking/running, would be horses! I love to go horseback ridding. Lastly, I love music but I have no talent when it comes to music, singing or playing instruments. I am hoping that someday, I can calm down and focus on developing that area of my life.

Why I am a Mormon

I'm mormon because two missionaries knocked on our door in Texas when I was little. They offered my mom a free book (the Book Of Mormon) and my mom loves to read, so how could she say no? She took the offer and knew there was something special about this book. We started attending church and my mom saw how the teenage kids were and decided that she wanted to see her kids turn out like them. My mom learned something she already knew, that there was life after death and that we could be a family for eternity. She taught me this very young. It wasn't until I read the entire Book of Mormon at the age of 14, that I was able to know for myself, that this book was from God and it was true. I have a personal knowledge of the truth of this book. I also have a personal relationship with God, our Heavenly Father. I know he is there, I know Jesus is the Christ and that the atonement is real. I am Mormon because I couldn't be anything else and have peace. I've received/seen so many miracles and I've had the Holy Ghost testify of the truthfulness of this gospel so many times, because of that and so many more reasons : I am Mormon.

How I live my faith

The best way I live my faith is by service. Service to my husband, my family, my neighbors, strangers, and any other son or daughter of God that happens to come into my life. For most of my adult years, I've taught those my age and younger about our religion. For the last 4 months, I've taught and lead music for the children. I love the children and I love teaching them through music and games. I'm not great with music but I'm learning just like these children that I teach. My husband is always big on service and serving others. I have been able to learn a lot from him and change in the way that I serve. I don't just serve those I know. If I see some one who's in need, I stop and help. Just the other day we were able to help an old man gather his 3 horses and put them back in his yard. It only took 15 mins but that 15 mins was enough to develop a friendship and love for him. It was also enough time to make a difference in our happiness. I feel like I live my faith by serving, loving and being happy. When I think of others before myself, I know I'm living the way Christ and my Heavenly Father would want me to. I really am blessed with a family and friends who are like family, they love me and I love them. I'm blessed with help when I need it and so I want to be able to always help those around me. I am not perfect but with God's help, I can be better and continue to become better. So how I want to live my faith is to forgive others, continue to ask for forgiveness for my weaknesses, serve others through true love, let go of my selfish desires and be aware of the needs of those around me, instead of the needs of myself. =)
