Hi I'm Bethany

I am from Georgia, I dance, and I love talking in fun accents with my sisters. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a high school senior and a dancer. I love singing at the top of my lungs with my family on car trips, reading in crazy voices with my little sister before bedtime, and playing games or watching a family movie every Sunday night. Family is very important to me, and I am grateful for the loved ones I have been blessed with. My faith is also very important to me, and I have learned that patience and prayer can help form a personal relationship with the Lord. That knowledge has helped me throughout my life as I have faced challenges, no matter how small.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because my family are all members. But I have learned to become a Mormon for myself as I have prayed and read the scriptures. Throughout my life, I have gained a testimony of this church because I do not know how I could make it without my faith. I rely on the Lord for help almost every day even with small things like driving to a new place safely or doing well on a test in school. As I have searched the scriptures, I have found answers to my problems and I have developed a personal relationship with the Lord in which I know I can ask Him for anything and He will answer my prayers. I also love being Mormon because I know that wherever I go in the world, I can find members of the church who will fellowship me and make me feel welcomed and loved. Youth group nights at my church are fun and we develop great friendships. I am grateful that I was born into this church, but I am also grateful that I found the truth of it for myself.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by praying with the Lord every night and reading the scriptures every night. Even if I feel like I am not going through a hard time, I can find great advice and comfort in the words of prophets contained in the scriptures. I also try to be a good example for others by being kind to everyone, and even though I am not perfect, I try to cheer others up whenever they feel down. This helps me try to become more Christlike in my actions. I love having standards that warn me away from bad habits such as bad language and harmful substances like alcohol. I have seen others in my age group at school struggle with these things, and I am grateful for the advice from our church leaders that keeps me away from things that will make my life unhappy.

Do Mormons only help Mormons?

As members of the church, we try to be charitable and Christlike, and we emphasize service to others. It is part of programs and activities for the youth and sometimes even whole congregations in an area can get together for a service project in the community. I have seen it when my family members and friends have served 2-year missions to spread the gospel to others and when my youth group has taken dinners to those in need. When Hurricane Katrina came through, almost all of the men and young men in my area went with members in nearby areas to help with the cleanup. Similar cleanup projects have occurred after tornadoes and floods, and our young men and adults have happily helped in the cleanup efforts. These are only a few examples of the service that our church emphasizes on a daily basis. Show more Show less
