Hi I'm Tim

I'm a recovering homeless addict. I'm a college student and an IT professional. I'm a father and a husband. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a father of two, divorced and remarried. I am a black belt in Tae Kwon Do and a former U.S. Army Intelligence Analyst. My interests include anything involving computers, and fixing just about anything with an engine. I love providing service for others, helping people is my purpose in life. I am four years sober and a current Temple Recommend holder.

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised in the church but fell away at 18 because I did not have a testimony, and I felt like a phony when contemplating the prospect of a full time mission. I devoted myself to military service and discovered drugs and alcohol, which eventually ended my military career. More bad decisions led to homelessness. Through recovery I started to face my life as an active participant again. With the help of family and friends I was able to make a new life for myself. A few years ago I was on vacation alone in Europe and had a very dramatic spiritual experience. I was ready to consign God and Christ to the pages of myth and legend; a convenient coping mechanism for otherwise intelligent people. God reached out to me and touched my heart. Not only is he real, but everything I was taught growing up is also real. God wants me not only to know that he loves me, but that he wants me to be a member of this church. He commanded me to study his word, the Book of Mormon, and ask him directly if it is true. I have, and it is. The Book of Mormon contains the foundations of everything that is right, good, and happy in my life. God's vision for me is so far beyond my wildest imagination. He has a perfect understanding of how I can be happy, as His child. When I trust in Him I am led down the path of light and truth. I am honored to bear His priesthood, and I seek to honor it every day. I enjoy the benefits of a temple marriage and an eternal family. I'm a Mormon because I love the Lord.

How I live my faith

I am an instructor at church once per month. I provide auto and motorcycle mechanic service to my friends, members, and their friends. I am a home teacher. I like to help people with things whenever possible. I support my son and the other scouts in the scouting program. I clean my ward building and participate in other service projects. I volunteer time at Deseret Industries. I volunteer for the Mormon Helping Hands when there is a natural disaster in my area that I can help with. I am the zone leader for my disaster preparedness network.
