Hi I'm Travis

I'm from Layton, Utah. I'm a professional me. I love to snowboard, film stuff, and help people. I love my family and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Hey ya I'm Travis Denny. I love my life! I am so HAPPY. My favorite fact is that it takes 64 muscles to frown and only 13 to smile!!! Unless someone wants a way gnarly buff face, JUST SMILE! I grew up in Layton, Utah. I like to make videos and do photography for extreme sports like skateboarding and snowboarding. I love being with family and friends, especially when we're all doing some awesome stuff!! I'm a missionary in the low country of South Carolina. It's legit! I LOVE IT! I love to skate, snowboard, long-board, scooter, and to film others doing that to. My parents are the best couple (besides my future wife and I whoever that may be) on earth! In my hard times, it was those sports that kept me sane. I know the best thing I can do for my life is live the gospel and smile while doing it! I love to be outdoors in this adventurous world that God gave us. I can wait to have a family of my own, but not too long. I love life! It's a party and with parental supervision it's even better!!! AW YEAH!!

Why I am a Mormon

Because it makes me Happy with a capital H! I was raised in the church and near the age of 16, I didn't know why it was important to actively live the gospel. It took me a little while to understand, but now I know why my parents did all they could to help me go to the church. It is never to late. If we put our trust in god and faith in Jesus Christ we can make our very next step in the right direction. At first I was a Mormon because my parents, then I was a Mormon to be an example to others, but now i'm a Mormon for me, and i've never been happier. If you wanna be one to, add me on facebook and i'll hook you up with the missionaries! It will make you so happy!

How I live my faith

Until the end of 2012, I will be a Full time missionary for the church in the South Carolina Columbia Mission, so I live my faith by teaching it to others 24/7 and actually living what I believe. I do what I can to have the spirit with me always, make the plans, take the steps, bounds, and leaps of faith, then leave the rest to God. When I get home I have committed to do my best in the church and magnify my callings and raise a family and be the member missionary that I need to. Now that i'm on a mission, my goal for when I get home is to do all I can to make sure youth around me go on missions. Nothing has brought me such happiness and in the future there will be few things that bring greater happiness. Smoothies are close, the outdoors are even closer, but the gospel is still #1!! I love it.

Can a husband and wife be together forever? Do Mormons believe that families will live together in heaven?

Travis
Yes, families can be together forever, even after this. Because of the Restoration of the Priesthood Authority of god, we can be sealed to our spouses to never be seperated, even after this life. Men, once again, have been given that power to seal things on earth and in heaven and to loose things on earth and in heaven. As we keep the covenants we make as we are sealed then we will live with our families forever. This is a way that the hearts of the fathers will turn to the children and the hearts of the children will turn to the fathers. I know by the power of the holy ghost that I can get be sealed to my wonderful wife to be and I look forward to that day with great expectations. Show more Show less

What is faith?

Travis
Faith is to hope for things which are not seen, but are true. Faith is not only believing, but ACTING on that belief. We can't have faith in Jesus Christ and not try to be like him in our every day lives. We can't say we have faith and go to church on sundays, then act completely different on every other day of the week. Faith is a life long building process. Faith without works is dead. Works are actions that show you are a true believer. Show more Show less

How can we increase our faith in Jesus Christ?

Travis
By doing what he tells us to do. We can't build our faith of a certain commandment without doing said commandment. We have to show that we trust in the lord enough to do what he says without knowing the future outcome of our actions. John 7:17 says " If any man will do his will, he shall know of the doctrine...". If you act your faith will build. Show more Show less

Do Mormons regard the Bible as Holy Scripture and the word of God?

Travis
YES! The bible is an amazing text of holy scripture given to us by the Prophets and Apostles of old. Without the Bible, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints would not exist. It is a powerful witness that proves that Jesus is the Christ. I love reading the Bible and sometimes just can't put it down. So many people look at the Bible as something that is easily interpreted. It is not. That is why we have Apostles and Prophets in our day. So they can use the authority they have been given to truely interpretate that scriptures within this powerful book. The bible is the word of God. Show more Show less

What are Mormon Temples used for?

Travis
The Temples that are on the earth now are truly the Lords house here on earth. As we prepare ourselves to enter the Temple we make sure that we are clean and pure in heart, and if we have sins or even mistakes on our conscience that need to be freed, we must repent and allow the spirit to be more in our lives to enter this holy house of God. We link the bridge between heaven and earth through the Lords temples here on earth. We are endowed with power from on high and understand how to pass by the angels that stand as sentinals guarding the kingdom of Heaven. The temples are an amazing thing that we have on earth because of the restored church of Jesus Christ. And the best part is that they are not new. Temples have been here since the times of the Old Testament. Solomen was commanded to build a temple and did so. Within the walls we can link our families from generation to generation. What is being a Mormon like?

Travis
The best way to live life! For me, I understand so much about Gods plan for me, which gives me the ability to have an optimistic outlook on life. I am currently a missionary for the church and will be until the end of 2012 and it is awesome! That is where my most joy in being mormon comes, at least right now, is helping others understand about the life of Jesus Christ and doing missionary work. In the future, the best part about being Mormon for me will be the chance I will have to be married for time and all eternity, which is only possible through the priesthood authority of God, which is held in the true church of Jesus Christ. Being truly converted into the church is the best thing that has happened and will continually bring blessings into my life. At least I hope so. And if instead of blessings, I face trials, I will use the strength that i've gained because of the church to overcome those trials. Show more Show less

What are some things that tell you there is a God?

Travis
Everything. From the grass to the stars, everything tells me there is is a God. There is no way that all this was made just by chance. There is no way that my personality was just formed overnight. There is no way that my body functions the way that it does just because "that's just how it works". There is proof of God in all things. He is the father of my spirit and the creator of all. Look at the stars, planets, and oceans. All that is not possible just because "that's just how it happened". God is real and once you start to notice that, your life will change. Look at everything. It is proof. Nothing came by chance. I know it. If our earth was just a yard closer to the sun, we would burn up. If it was a yard further away from the sun, we would all freeze. That is not chance and neither is life. It is all a gift from god. Show more Show less

What is the Mormon lifestyle like? How do Mormons live?

Travis
Well........The BEST life ever! I know who I am! I am a child of God and because of that I can stay opptimistic through all things in life. I am a normal guy. I've graduated High school and all through those years I made mistakes. I'm not perfect but I know that I can become perfect. I live so I can make myself and others happy. If someone around me isn't happy then my goal in life is to make them happy and laughing. I love to skate. I have filled my whole life with either the cement skating and scootering, or with the mountains snowboarding. We have jobs, we have kids, we have bad days, we have good days. We are normal and I don't know why the world doesn't think so. We try to live our lives the way christ would have us live them. We love our families and know that we can be with them forever because of the restored preisthood power. We don't just believe that, we know the way to do it and the procedure and we have the knowledge. I love life. I love my family. I love my friends. I love my good and bad days. I plan to go to college, get a job, and start a family. I love life. Show more Show less

What do Mormons believe is the purpose of life?

Travis
The purpose is life is to live is to prepare to meet god. That is why we are here! Life did not start with birth and it does not end with death. We are Gods children and he wants us to return to him. In this life we are given a physical body, and the gift of agency. Agency is the freedom to choose right from wrong. We have that gift so we can prove to God that we are faithful and we will follow his commandments. On earth we can learn right from wrong and govern ourselves with the knowledge that we have and the knowledge that we will gain. And we are here to form eternal families and link our generations to our fathers and theirs to there fathers. All in all, this life is to prepare to meet god. We know that because we have the knowledge of the plan of salvation and if you don't know what that is then you can look it up on this website under "our beliefs". Show more Show less

How can we come to know our Father in Heaven?

Travis
There is no better way to know God without experiencing Him and seeing first hand what He is really all about. The best way to get to know who He is is first learn about Him and what He has done for you. Second; pray to have more trust in Him and have an experience every day with him. Third; look at your everyday life and realize what he has given to you. He gives us life, energy happiness, love, color, emotions, good days and bad days. He wants us to find who He is and he gives us chances every day to connect with Him. If you don't believe in God and what and who He is, just try living the way that other believers live and see if you recognize him a little more in your life. We have to meet God halfway. We have to take a "leap" of faith sometimes just to find out that He has been there all along. God is not far from us, we just further ourselves from him. Show more Show less

Do you really believe there is a prophet like Moses alive today?

Travis
Sure do!!! Why would God only call prophets thousands of years ago? In the Bible we read God is the same yesterday, today, and forever. What does that tell you reader? If he called Prophets yesterday ( in the past ) wouldn't he call them today ( present ) and tomorrow ( future )? I know that He has called Prophets in our day so we can follow the will of Him who sent us to this earth. I love how we can hear his words today. I invite you to search for the Prophet in our day and heed his counsel. I promise that if you do you will find that peace that comes from following Gods chosen Prophets. That is the only way you to can know if God has called a Prophet again. Now go find some happiness! Show more Show less

What is a ward/stake/branch?

Travis
A ward is a local congregation of members of the church. Because there are many members of the church, the congregations are made up of bounderies. They usually have a number between 150-300 members. A branch is a smaller congregation and is made up of any number between 15-100. A stake is a a group of wards and branches that make up a bigger area of boundery. Members of the Church can find fellowship and family no matter where they are in the world because they will always be in a stake, and ward or branch. All congregations learn the same lesson each Sunday all over the world. We are led by the savior and unified by the power of his love. Christ' true Church is everywhere Show more Show less

Do Mormons worship Joseph Smith?

Travis
No. I worship God the Father and His Son Jesus Christ. I do thank Joseph Smith though for being an instrument in the Lords hands to restore Christs church. If you wanna know what I am talking about click on the tab at the top that says "our beliefs" then scroll down to "restoration of the gospel" and you can read all about it. I am thankful to Moses for giving us the 10 commandments and I am thankful to Abraham for being so faithful and I am thankful to Joseph Smith for restoring the church. Show more Show less

What is the priesthood?

Travis
The power of God. The authority to act in the name of Jesus Christ. When the Apostles healed people, they did it in the name of Christ. It wasn't just a catchy phrase that the kids in Jerusalem were saying. They really had the authority to do the things that Christ did. The Priesthood of God is what is needed to perform sacred ordinances such as Baptism. Those of us who hold the priesthood aren't in any way better then any one other person. It does not put us upon a higher pedestal. We are expected to remain worthy and discipline ourselves to be good men and act as Christ himself would act. It is a great responsibility and it allows us to bless the lives of others around us. Show more Show less
