Hi I'm Mallory

I'm a sister, a daughter, a wife, a friend, a teacher, an expat; and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

My name is Mallory. I live in Tainan, Taiwan with my husband of 7 years and I teach English at a local elementary school. I have been teaching for 5 years, mostly in elementary schools in the US, but I recently moved to Taiwan to fulfill a dream of teaching abroad. I love interacting with children of all ages and have been involved with the youth in our church as well. I love to read, write, sing, play sports, spend time with my family, and do crafts.

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised in the LDS church and was baptized at the age of 8. As I grew older, I struggled with my faith. I believed that there was a God, and that he loved me enough to send his son to suffer for my sins, but I wasn't sure about all of the things I had been taught as a youth or if the LDS church held the true Gospel of Jesus Christ. I attended different churches, trying to find out where I should be, but found no answers. Because of a great friend who was taking missionary lessons, I was able to attend lessons with her and the Mormon missionaries. I learned about the church and its teachings from a different perspective started to study the scriptures and pray earnestly to my Heavenly Father. I lived the commandments and tried my best to act upon the things I had learned from the missionaries. I learned for myself that the Book of Mormon was the word of God, and I had known it in my heart all along. It testifies of Jesus Christ and because it is the word of God, then the man who translated it was a prophet of God, and the church that he restored to this earth is the Church of Jesus Christ and contains his Gospel.

How I live my faith

In my life, I try my best to emulate the Savior. I know that it is only through him that we can return to live with our Heavenly Father someday, and that he is the perfect example to follow. I am fond of a particular saying that I'd like to share with you. "Live your life in such a way, that those who know you, but don't know Christ, will want to know Christ, because they know you." This is how I try to live my life. I know that people watch me because of my faith. I'm not a perfect person; I make mistakes, I sin. But I also repent and understand the importance of turning my life away from sin and back towards my Heavenly Father; bending my will to his. I try to be the example of a believer, while still being open minded and loving to those who do not share my faith. I have made covenants with God, one of them being to take upon me the name of Christ. I made this covenant when I was baptized, and it means not only to believe in Christ, but to act as he would. "Have ye received his image in your countenances? Have ye experienced this mighty change in your hearts?" Book of Mormon, Alma 5:14
