Hi I'm Jen

I'm a Mormon. I live in Oregon with my beautiful family and I've been a member of the church all my life.

About Me

I am a wife, mom and business owner, and I love my busy life! I have a wonderful husband and five beautiful children ranging in age from 4 to 21. I love reading, taking pictures, running, camping, road trips, blogging, going to the movies, crafting and scrapbooking. More than anything I love spending time with my family who means everything to me.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into the church. My mom was also a member from birth, and my dad was converted when I was two years old. When I was three, my family was sealed together in the Oakland California temple. I still have memories of that day and what it was like to join hands on the altar of the temple. I was raised by parents who lived the gospel and served others diligently. They instilled in me a love for my Savior and a desire to serve Him. Throughout my life I have had ups and downs like everyone else. Some of my "downs" drew me away from the church for a time, but I always came back. I could not deny the truth of gospel or the power of it in my life. I have been an active member for many years now and I cannot imagine choosing any other path. It requires sacrifice and self-discipline to be a worthy member of this church; but the blessings that flow from obedience are more than worth it. My life has been richly blessed by my Father in Heaven and by my membership in the true church. My knowledge of the Savior and his atonement bring me peace and happiness that I cannot find from any other source.

How I live my faith

I love attending church on Sunday. Having an opportunity each week to escape the insanity of daily life and spend three hours worshipping and studying the words of my Saviour is priceless. I come away renewed and reinvigorated for the week ahead. My faith grows as I choose obedience and reap the blessings. Like many others, our family has struggled through the economic recession. But we have always paid an honest tithe and a generous fast offering and see the blessings daily - both monetarily and spiritually. I firmly believe that our family-owned small business (and sole source of income) would not have survived if we had not been faithfully and happily paying our tithing and serving the Lord. The richest blessings in my life have come as a result of my membership in the church and my decision to faithfully abide by its principles. I raised my daughter as a single mom with the support of my family and friends in the church. I met my husband (and subsequently my two step-kids) at a church dance and we were married in the Lord's temple for time and all eternity. My husband and I were able to meet, fall in love with and adopt our two, beautiful, little ones as a result of a friendship with a fellow member of the church that I might never have known, but for a church assignment to visit her. As a wife and mother I am continually on my knees, begging for help and asking for forgiveness, but most importantly giving thanks for the abundant blessings in my life. I owe everything I have and everything I am to a loving Savior and Father in Heaven.
