Hi I'm Austin

I'm a musician. I speak Marshallese. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

All my life I have loved music. I started playing the piano when I was five, and have loved it ever since. When I was in second grade, I began learning to play the violin through the Suzuki Violin program at my school, and I continued learning and playing all throughout elementary, middle, and part of high school, until switched to the cello as a sophomore in high school. So, music has been a pretty big part of my life growing up. I love film scores and soundtracks, and someday would love to be a film score composer. After graduating from high school, I served a two-year mission in Spokane, Washington speaking the Marshallese language. I am currently a college student pursuing a degree in Commercial Music. In addition to music, I love computers and technology, specifically photo and video editing and production. I also love to run, and was a cross country team member in high school.

Why I am a Mormon

I'm a Mormon because I know that it will bring me closer to Jesus Christ and God than anything else. I fully believe that if everything else in my life fell apart, my beliefs and my knowledge of their truth would be the one thing I can always turn to for guidance. In a world where there is so much turmoil and confusion, and so many different ideas being tossed around, it is so important to have the grounding and foundation that this religion provides. As I have studied the scriptures and applied them in my life, I have come to know without a doubt that the things that I am taught as a Mormon are true, and that the fulness of Jesus Christ's teachings have been restored in our day through a living prophet, just as in biblical times. I know that being a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and living as Christ would has brought and will continue to bring more happiness to my life and to my family than anything else.

How I live my faith

I strive to live my faith every day. I do my best to do the things that will bring me closer to Jesus Christ, such as studying from the scriptures and praying regularly. I also participate in church and the community regularly. I play the piano and the organ for church services, and am an active participant in the youth and single adult activities. I have also played a part in planning and carrying out activities to help bring the members of the church and the community closer together.

What is the Mormon lifestyle like? How do Mormons live?

I love the Mormon lifestyle. It is one that revolves around living life so that you can keep a clear perspective on what is really important in life, but also enjoy the most happiness that you can in this life. Each day, I spend a little time reading the scriptures and praying, which helps me start the day positively. Families are a huge part of everyday life, and that focus on families has helped my family to grow closer together, and really love eachother more every day. Some people think that my lifestyle is restricted, as I don't participate in some of the activities that my friends do, but really it just helps me avoid things that will hurt me in the long term, and appreciate the important things even more.
