Hi I'm Douglas

I'm from Texas. I love playing all sports, especially baseball. I attended school at Brigham Young University. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I really enjoy spending my time in the outdoors. Fishing, four-wheeling, paintballing; you name it, i'm all over it. I also really enjoy playing sports. I played safety and corner in football, ran the 400 meter dash in track, and played pitcher and centerfield in baseball. Anything I can compete in, I enjoy doing. From playing dominos to monopoly even to family home evening games, no matter what I have to be the best. I guess that is just the part of the cloth that I was cut from. One of my top priorities in life though is my family. Both my family now and the family I will soon have after I get married and have children, it has always been something that has been important to me. Divinely appointed from the beginning, families were designed to bring us the most happiness in life and that is exactly what it has done for me. As for now though, I'm gaining my education at college with the hopes of becoming a doctor one day. I'm trying to prepare myself to continue to live the life my Father in Heaven would have me live.

Why I am a Mormon

Why I have chosen this wonderful life style as a Latter-Day Saint is very evident. The high standards and strong moral values that we are taught in the church have been something that I've been able to rely on to help me make correct choices in my teenage years growing up. Having an even stronger testimony of my Savior Jesus Chirst is something that has helped me to overcome personal trials that arise in everyones lives. The knowledge that God still talks to us using a modern-day prophet, Thomas S. Monson, has been a blessing to me. Even from a non-spiritual stance, why would God use prophets all the way through times and stop now. The Book of Mormon, the evidence that we do have a true prophet on earth, has been something that has increased my faith in Jesus Christ and has helped me to understand His gospel more fully. As I study both volumes of Holy Scripture, the Bible and the Book of Mormon, everything just makes sense. Even more importantly than that though, it fills my life with the Spirit of God. I know that Jesus Christ did indeed come to this earth, live a perfect life, suffer in the Garden of Gethsemane, than was crucified on the cross to redeem me from my fallen and broken state. Nothing less than an infinite and eternal sacrifice, Jesus Christ opened the way for us to return and live with our Father in Heaven again one day. He paid the price that the Law of Justice demands and now encircles us with the arms of mercy. I love being a Latter-Day Saint because it helps me to more fully understand what Jesus Christ really did go through for me.

How I live my faith

Service is one of the Christ-like attributes that a love the most. In the church, because not a single person in our church is paid, everyone has a 'calling' in the church. Whether it is to be the greeter on Sunday mornings or the head of the congregation, no one is better than the other. All of us help in each of our individual ways that make it all come together in unity. I have had several church callings but the most recent was as a Sunday School Teacher. Its my own little way that I can help others to strengthen their faith in our Savior Jesus Christ while I am strengthening my own.
