Hi I'm Cheri

I'm a wife and a mother of three. Holding down the fort is what I do. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

My full time job is taking care of my 3 children, while my husband completes his residency training. My husband can work really long hours as a doctor in training and, consequently, so do I!

Why I am a Mormon

I was born and raised a Mormon, but that doesn't mean I didn't have to choose this Church. Unlike some, who have a miraculous story to tell about how they found this church, my story is more like a saga that spans my life. My testimony or the reason why I know this church is true comes from every decision I ever made throughout my life based on prayer and faith. I know I have a Father in Heaven who loves me because I have felt his hand guiding me in my life. I have prayed to him and received answers and instruction for me and my family. I am so grateful for the Bible and the Book of Mormon. Whenever I read the scriptures I am blessed with peace and strength. The more I learn of Jesus Christ through studying his life or serving others the happier I become. I know there is power in the heavens. During a particularly difficult time for me and my family my father-in-law once told me he prayed for us every Wednesday morning. He has five children and Wednesday was our day! Well, one Wednesday I was feeling hopeless and defeated. Yet, somehow, I found the strength to carry on. And to be able to carry on that particular day was a miracle all by itself. The strength I found seemed to come not from within, but somehow from outside myself. Then, I realized it was a Wednesday - the day someone was praying for me. I knew right then that Heavenly Father was real, that he loved me and that he truly answers prayer. I also learned that prayer is even more powerful when we are praying for others in need. I know this Gospel is true, I live it everyday and I LOVE it!

How I live my faith

I live my faith every day by magnifying my calling of being a mother. I met my husband during my freshman year of college and we married the following summer. If you knew me at that time you would have never believed me if I had told you I was going to be married at the age of 19! I had plans, even big plans, to finish college, possibly go on a mission and maybe even be an ambassador for the U.S. shaping the opinions of world leaders. Once I was married I quickly realized that Heavenly Father had a different path for me to follow. My professors wouldn't understand my new career path and I definitely wasn't going to receive recognition in any global arena. The path I was about to take was going to be the hardest challenge I had ever encountered. It was going to change me completely, bring out my weaknesses and make me rely more than ever on my testimony of Heavenly Father's love for me. I was to become a mother and devote myself to motherhood, where recognition if not in the global arena would be fleeting, but profound within the walls of my own home. Some people thought I was squandering my talents and intellect by becoming a mother at such a young age and choosing to stay home full-time to raise them. Yet, I feel I have grown in ways I never would have fathomed and gained more wisdom at a younger age than if I had pursued any other career. I am so grateful for my three amazing children, who teach me how to be patient, give unconditional love, be quick to forgive and the list could go on and on. Being a mother and a wife has helped me to become Christ-like better than any other experience in my life.
