Hi I'm Jim Carroll

I grew up in the all American childhood. Outdoors - Sports and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I love sports of all kinds and played or coached a multitude of sports over the years. I enjoyed football in football season, basketball in basketball season and baseball just about any time. I was lucky enough to be taught and coached well and played college baseball for a time in my late teens and early 20's. As the playing years went past me I coached my kids soccer and basketball teams (nobody wanted to play baseball). I enjoyed the wonderful relationships with my players and many of their parents. I especially was thrilled to watch these kids grow and develop into terrific young people. Over the past many years I was blessed to have the opportunity to coach fine high school basketball players. Facing the challenges of competition, the unexpected situations off the court, the unbelievable joy of seeing some of those players go onto college teams that achieved at the highest level has filled me with a sense of fulfillment that will always be part of me.

Why I am a Mormon

In my personal search to find the way to a closer relationship with my savior, Jesus Christ, I met 2 wonderful sister missionaries that introduced me to that path I was looking for. I felt the gentle promptings of the Holy Ghost as they introduced the basics of the gospel to me. I agreed to be baptized and now for over 30 years I continued to learn and grow in understanding of the gospel truths and live them every day. Being a member of the church has helped me to grow personally, spiritually and closer to my Savior as I was searching for in the beginning. I have found strength in times of trouble because I have learned to live a spirit filled life and have come to know that my Savior truly lives and sustains me and supports me as I strive to live my life in keeping with His teachings. I have found happiness in my life and being a Mormon has played a major role in walking that path to a joyfilled life.

How I live my faith

I currently have the privilege to teach an adult Sunday school class each week. I'm constantly amazed to hear the wisdom shared with the members of the class by other class members. The regular study of the scriptures has lead me to ponder the deeper meanings put forth by ancient and modern followers of Christ and I am discovering for myself how to apply them in my own life. What's more it has helped me grow personally and spiritually. But what has been most amazing is how others have mentioned to me over the years that my not using profanity or drinking alcohol has caused them to watch me more intently. Which has led to many questions about my faith and how it has been a tremendous way of life for me and my family.
