Hi I'm Jake

I've grown up most of my life in Utah. I love basketball and being with family and friends. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Of the many things I love to do, my favorites are playing basketball, jamming on my drum-set, and hanging out with family and friends. I am attending college right now and have plans on becoming a Civil Engineer. I served a full time mission in Raleigh, North Carolina and have been home since March of 2010. It was a life blessing experience that taught me a lot about hard work and putting faith and trust in Jesus Christ.

Why I am a Mormon

I have been a Mormon my entire life, but still had to work very hard to gain a testimony of Jesus Christ and why I need to obey and follow his commandments. Growing up, I didn't always have the beliefs I have now. I remember always having good feelings when I went to church, or when I obeyed my parents, or when I helped someone in need. I tried hard to continue doing those things because when I failed to do those things, or even did the opposite, I was burdened with sadness and bad consequences. I am far from perfect just like all of us, but I tried to do the right thing because of being taught right principles from my parents. This lead to my choosing to serve a 2 year mission. It was on my mission that I learned what truly makes me happy, which is serving others, and gaining a personal relationship with Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ through scripture study and prayer. Living gospel principles by my choice, has lead to my strong testimony of Jesus Christ. I choose to live correct principles because through experiences I have had, I know that the Lord truly blesses us and that is what he wants for all his children. I know that Jesus Christ lives as the savior of the world, and that he will come again to redeem his people. I know that the Book of Mormon and the Bible are true scriptures written by prophets chosen of God in old times. I know that we can all be resurrected after death and live with our families forever in glory with God, if we choose to obey his word. I love the Gospel and I am grateful for Heavenly Father's love for us.

How I live my faith

I participate by helping plan service activities in my community and by promoting participation in what is called Institute. Institute is a free religion class that people can go to and learn about principles and doctrines of our church.
