Hi I'm Liz

I live in Mesa, AZ. I play volleyball, I have amazing friends and family and I am a missionary.

About Me

I am 19 years old. I have lived in Arizona my entire life but I love to travel and meet new people. I love reading and learning about new cultures. I am serving in the Adriatic South Mission starting July 27, 2016. I love the my Savior, Jesus Christ and the opportunities He gives me daily to learn and grow. I am grateful to be able to serve the people in Albania, Macedonia, and Kosovo for 18 months.

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised as a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints otherwise knows as the Mormon church. I have always had the gospel in my life and I am grateful for it; however, it wasn't until a family tragedy that I truly gained a testimony of my Heavenly Father's love for me and for the Plan of Happiness He has for us. During the months of grieving, I learned to rely on my Savior, Jesus Christ. As I began praying more sincerely and reading my scriptures more earnestly, my testimony was strengthened and I was able to witness miracles and be healed emotionally and spiritually from my grief. I know my Savior loves us and I know He has a plan for me. I am grateful for the opportunities He gives me to grow and become a better person. I am grateful everyday for His sacrifice and atonement that saves us all.

How I live my faith

Living my faith is a daily duty. I try to be kind and happy. I dress modestly and conservatively and I always wear my CTR ring to remind me to make good choices. I chose to go on a mission so I can serve others and offer assistance in gaining a relationship with our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Are all Mormons required to serve a mission?

While not all Mormons are required to serve missions abroad or away from home for the 18 or 24 months, boys are encouraged to go once they reach the age of 18. It is a special commandment from our Father in Heaven. Girls have the options to serve when they are 19 and are encouraged to do so if they have the desire. Elderly couples can also serve missions, whether it be in their home state at a humanitarian center or abroad. However, every member is encouraged to be an "everyday missionary." This means that it is every member's duty to love, serve, and teach those around them. Show more Show less

Why are only some Mormons allowed into temples? Is there something secret going on in Mormon Temples? What goes on in Mormon Temples?

Members who are from ages 12 and up can be issued a recommend for the temple. You can get these recommends by interviewing with the bishop. In order to receive one you must live a virtuous and honest life. Nothing secret goes in the temple, but sacred ordinances are established. You get married in the temple and sealed to your spouse and children for time and all eternity. You can do baptisms and sealings for the dead. Show more Show less
