Hi I'm Betty Boan

I grew up in South Carolina where in my youth along with my family were of the Baptist faith. I am a convert to the LDS church.

About Me

I am a mother of two and a grandmother. I retired from the plastic bottle industry of 30 years. My grandchild is 16 now and the joy of my life. My husband and I were married in June of 98 and he is in every way my soul mate the love of my life and dearest friend. He has a son who is just like his father. Kind, loving and respectful of others. Along with his wife we do not have a large family but are close and care for one another and their needs and desires. I was baptized into the church in April of l995. I love to read and enjoy crafts of any kind. My parents were humble loving people and taught their children to work for what they wanted and know of the grace of God. They set good examples for their children to follow. I have four brothers and one sister. We love to plan family get-to-gethers because Mom did believe in those gatherings. I enjoy creating poems and have written a few. Life has certainly been a blessed one for me and I know if I continue to strive in living the gospel I will continue to receive the blessings my Father in Heaven has in store for me.

Why I am a Mormon

I am proud to be a Mormon because I did read the entire Book of Mormon and did ask if what I had read were true. My Father in heaven did give me the answer I was praying for. I know that the Book of Mormon was given to us for guidance in these latter-days. It is not another Bible but another testimony of Christ. As a child in the Baptist faith, I was taught Christ was often referred to as "The good shepherd" John 10:16 He tells us . . "other sheep I have; which are not of this fold, them also that I must bring and they shall hear my voice, and they shall be one fold and one shepherd." I am convinced through personal revelations that we, the gentiles of this continent are those lost sheep Christ spoke of in this verse. This is why I am Mormon because I believe this verse in the Bible. Another Bible verse which convinced me of the truth was Ezekiel 37: 15-19 The (stick) book of Ephraim which is the book of Mormon and the (stick) book of Judah which is the Bible will become as one. This is the prophecy of the two coming together as one. I know this because I did pray and ask is this what these verses are telling us in these latter-days. I testify that I did ask with a sincere heart if the Book of Mormon was another testimony of Christ. I know without a doubt that this is the word of God and of his rightious people who departed from Jerusalem, who kept record of their people and their faith. Our Father in Heaven did not cut himself off from the ones who sought him. He is a loving God and still sends prophecy and revelations to his children today. This I do very much believe and this is why I am Mormon.

How I live my faith

I try hard to live my faith and serve my Hevenly Father in keeping the commandments. I am currently serving in Primary, which is the children's program in the Church, and I sometimes think I learn more than the children. They are dear sweet children of God and have such a desire to learn. My husband of 15 years and I study and read our scriptures daily and when ask to give a talk in Church we accept this and know that this only helps us to grow. We try to always participate in church functions and service projects. I share my testimony with others as often as I can and invite others to come and visit our Church. I know I sometimes am not worthy of all the blessings that I have received in my lifetime but I do know that through Christ we have been redeemed and can ask for forgiveness. If we ask with a sincere heart we are forgiven. Matthew 7:7 Says; "Ask, and it shall be given you; seek and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you." This is one my favorite verses for I know in my heart I did ask and did seek and I know that I have found the answer for who I am and my purpose in this life.
