Hi I'm McKayla

I love to travel, eat, and laugh until tears come down my face. I love to meet new people and try new things. I'm a Mormon:)

About Me

I am the oldest of 5 siblings. I have 2 wonderful parents, a brother, and 3 sisters. We like to go camping together, play board/card games (much more competitivly than needed), watch movies with plenty of popcorn, and spend time outside in all kinds of weather. I attend Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah studying Human Development, but that very likely could change to something else. I love to learn new things and meet new people. Food is one of my all time favorite things and there are not many things that I dislike.(Indian food is my new discovery :)) I am currently preparing to serve a full-time mission in beautiful Vitoria Brasil and I am so excited. I know that this gospel is true and I want everyone, including you, to know that we really do have a loving Father in Heaven. He is always there for everyone just because He loves us and cares about us.

Why I am a Mormon

I'm a Mormon because I want to be one. I have grown up around the church all my life, but it is something I had to find out for myself. Our Heavenly Father is listening to us. All we have to do is sincerely read and pray about the Book of Mormon and He will let us know of the truth. If you are looking for something that makes you happy what could better than a lifestyle based on love and service? The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints is truly a way of life. The way we are taught to live and interact with others is changed with our perspective on life. It might seem like we have a lot of rules, but each and every rule is from God and makes us better individuals. For example, we don't drink alcohol because it is damaging to the body and mind. Our Father in heaven made our bodies so it would make sense that he would have the correct manual for how to use them correctly. I have a testimony that this gospel makes me happy. Everything we are asked to do is directly from God and it is for our benefit. I have the knowledge that I am a daughter of God and that He knows me personally. He sent his son Jesus Christ to provide a way for me to get back to heaven. He is never far away for me and even though it seems like He couldn't possibly notice that "tall girl in the back corner" He constantly reminds me that He does. I know this is the true church. It fills me with hope and happiness as life goes on. :)

How I live my faith

Church has become my second family. I get to meet tons of people of all different backgrounds who are just trying to be the best they can be. Everyone at church is given some sort of responsibility. Growing up I have had the opportunity to give talks to the ward and be in charge of certain activities! I have been given the chance to really grow because I feel important and loved in the ward. This is what our Savior wants. He wants us to live our faith by loving each other. That is why we focus on family and church activities. When we stand together we have the confidence to keep pressing forward.

What are some things that tell you there is a God?

Everything in our lives point back to God. God created man and everything that we enjoy here on this earth. One of the things that absolutely amazes me is the anatomy of the human body. Surely only a supreme being of all power could create something so wonderful. If you have ever taken even a basic class about all the processes and functions that take place inside of you then you would agree with me! :) Everything from our brains to our toes are created to work together in harmony. We don't have to think about breathing or making our hearts pump; it just happens because that is the way we were made. We came to this earth by divine design not accident. There is no question in my mind that my body was created for me by my Heavenly Father. He is my literal and very real Father in Heaven. Show more Show less
