Hi I'm Tejay

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a father of 3, a husband, and an engineer. I enjoy working on my home, buiding things, playing with the kids, and being outdoors. I have a BS in information systems from BYU-Idaho and a MS in Management Information Systems from Boston University. My latest hobby is data science. I'm learning R and Octave, taking a course in Machine Learning, and experimenting with parellel processing methods. Someday I hope to use these skills to improve the lives of those around me.

Why I am a Mormon

I'm a Mormon because I was born into a Mormon family, but I'm a believer because the Lord has shown me the way he wants me to live my life. Unlike many members I know, I've never had a magical ah-ha moment where I knew the Gospel was true. For me it has been consistent, small evidences. Using the priesthood to heal the sick; recieving revelation to lead my career; or following a prompting to guide delicate conversations. The cumulation of these experiences has left me with a confidence that a great spiritual experience could never duplicate. Beyond these experiences, I believe because the gospel brings me peace of mind. It answers questions that no one has been able to answer for me in any other way. Questions like, "Why did God place me on Earth?", and "What does God want me to become?".

How I live my faith

My faith guides me in all that I do. It is the source of my leadership experience, the reason for my inegrity, and the guiding principle in my decisions. Even at work, prayer playes an important roll in my decision making process. The teachings of Christ guide my treatment of others, and lead me to strive to put others' welfare before my own. Within the church I am blessed to work closely with our newest members. I am a shepherd to guide them through their first steps along the journey of dicipleship. It's such a blessing for me to watch them grow in their faith and understanding as they prepare to enter the Temple and make their famalies eternal.
