Hi I'm Amanda

I'm a college student. I love adventures. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a second year college student, and going to school is one of the most challenging and amazing things I've ever been able to do. I love the opportunities that I have every day to interact with new people, learn about the world around me, and learn more about myself. In my spare time I love to have adventures, whether that be skiing, exploring the small town I live in, or building a blanket fort in the living room. I've tried a lot of different things in my life- In high school I was in FBLA, band, choir, and student leadership, and I played soccer for four years. I love living that crazy life, but now I've decided to prioritize things a little more. I spend most of my time focused on the things that matter most to me - My family, my close friends, and growing in the gospel.

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised in an Latter-day Saint family and as I grew up never doubted the truthfulness of what I was taught. When I got older I knew I had to be able to say for myself that the church was true, so I looked closer at what I had been learning and living all my life. I remembered the times that I'd felt the spirit in my life, and the ways that keeping the commandments had kept me safe and happy. I considered the words of church leaders and my parents, and of the scriptures. I realized that I had known for myself for a long time that this gospel is good and true. I live the gospel because I love feeling the protection and guidance of the spirit. I live it because it helps me know my Father in Heaven and Jesus Christ better. I live it because it gives me a foundation when I have hard times or hard decisions to face. I live it because it helps me live a happy and successful life. I live it because I know it.

How I live my faith

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints not only teaches me to avoid things that are harmful to my body and soul, but it teaches the value of service, education, responsibility, prayer, self esteem, and honesty. I try to live my life by these teachings. Every day I get to attend college classes, and I gain a greater knowledge of the gospel through study of the scriptures and other books. I also work to develop myself as a well-rounded person. I get to serve other members of the church through various responsibilities, my favorite of which is serving on a council for the Institute of Religion here at my school. I love to serve by sharing my smile, and helping others see the joy that each day has to bring!
