Hi I'm Brenda

I'm a mother of five. I'm a runner. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am the mother of five children. We enjoy traveling and spending time with each other. We have visited most states and many national parks. I am interested in US history. I enjoy running and have run a marathon along with a number of half marathons. I ran an overnight relay with eleven other women and loved it. I am looking forward to doing it again!

Why I am a Mormon

I am so grateful for the guidance the gospel of Jesus Christ gives me in raising my children. I love how the principles I teach them are the same I grew up with; that in this ever changinging world, the principles remain constant. I appreciate how other teachers and leaders in the church reinforce the same things I am teaching my kids in the home. I am grateful to attend the temple and to put aside the day-to-day cares I have. I am able to refocus on eternal things. I enjoy the feeling of peace in the temple. I am grateful that the LDS church teaches prayer and that we are children of our Heavenly Father. I have received answers to prayers on my runs, when it is quiet and I am enjoying the work of His hands. I love the Book of Mormon and want to follow the examples of the people whose lives and experiences are recorded in that scripture. I love the simple yet powerful testimonies of the Savior, Jesus Christ that are written in the Book of Mormon. I am so grateful for an understanding of why I am here and what happens after I die. I know that there is a plan and that Jesus Christ is at the center of that plan. I am grateful for His love and sacrifice for me.

How I live my faith

I have been very involved in teaching young women, ages 12-18, in the church for most of my married life. This is what I really love to do and I remember so clearly my own feelings as a teenager as I tried to understand myself and the Lord's desires for me. It is easy for me to feel a connection with the youth in our church. Currently I teach the women of our church once a month and find that I learn much, much more than I teach as I study and ponder a topic. I serve on a new committee in my son's school. It is a new school wich focuses on science and technology, as well as values. I serve on a committee which defines and furthers the climate and culture of the school.
