Hi I'm Karissa

I'll be serving a mission in Chile. I listen to Christian Rock. I am a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in Minnesota and loved going to baptist bible school every summer. I have my BFA in design, ultimately I hope to obtain my masters in Package Design. The only thing on my bucket list is to design a noodle, ambitious eh? I love warm weather, but can't ever seem to find it. I will be serving the Lord in the Chile Concepción mission....starting at the end of my winter and the beginning of their winter. I love the Lord and know that living the gospel brings us happiness even through our trials.

Why I am a Mormon

I'm not really the rebellious type. Growing up, I went to church with my family, and never really had any desire to be disobedient. When I went to college, I realized no one was holding my hand walking me to church anymore, I could do what I wanted, I had complete freedom. The funny thing is, I wanted to go to church, not because I felt guilty if I didn't, but because I realized my life with the gospel of Jesus Christ was happy. When I do what the Lord asks me to, my life is blessed. There have been many small instances throughout my own life that confirm my beliefs. I now know for sure that Heavenly Father answers my prayers. I know for sure that there is life after death & I will be together with my dad again. I know for sure that God knows us personally and helps us through the crappy times of life. He hears and answers our prayers. I know for sure that happiness comes through living the commandments. I now know for sure the Book of Mormon and the Bible are the word of God. I am a Mormon because I, on my own, have found these things to be true.

How I live my faith

I love when people live what they believe. Living in Minnesota, land of 10,000 churches, I was able to rub shoulders with many amazing people of all sorts of religions. My two best friends were Catholic and Lutheran. I strive daily to live the standards the church has set for us, including modesty, chastity, the word of wisdom (abstaining from alcohol, smoking, drugs, etc.) I consider myself a churchgoer, and love to jump in to help a fellow neighbor in need. The church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints is a church of action. As a member, I try to keep Christ at the center of my life, through both my actions and thoughts, thus radiating His Light to others.

What is the Word of Wisdom that Mormons talk about?

The word of wisdom is an inspired way of living a healthy, happy life. As a Mormon, we are encouraged to eat healthily, exercise, as well as abstain from anything addictive (such as tobacco, alcohol, coffee, drugs, etc.) Show more Show less
