Hi I'm Katie

I play the guitar, sing, & love sports. I'm starting a Masters in AZ. I smile often and I love my life! I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I love cultures and have lived n a lot of different places. I grew up with my older brothers as my best friends so I watched a lot of ESPN in my youth. They taught me to love sports and thus I do. I love going to sporting events and throwing a football around. However what I love most is dancing and music. I play the guitar (and the drums but not as well) and sing. Music makes my heart happy!! I enjoy reading and am an in the closet nerd. I love having fun and experiencing new things. I come from a family with 7 kids (including me). Having a big family is so awesome especially now that were all getting older. Our family holidays are full of fun times.

Why I am a Mormon

Why I am a Mormon comes from the things I have experienced throughout my life. I grew up in this religion. When I was 14 I saw my friends at school partying and it looked fun. I remember thinking "I need to find out if this church is true. Because if it isn't then I am going to party with my friends." So, I did what I was taught to do. I read the Book of Mormon and prayed everyday. Everyday I learned from the Book of Mormon. It helped me in my life. It helped me be a better person. When I prayed I felt in my heart that someone was listening and answering my prayers. After 9 months of this I reflected on the previous 9 months. I noticed a positive change within my heart. I felt close to my Savior Jesus Christ. I felt my soul being fed when I read the Book of Mormon. I saw how my prayers had consistently been answered. My mind and heart were in sync. I knew this church was true. Through my teenage years and early 20's I became stronger in my beliefs. However as I gained more life experience, education, and became more of an independent thinker, I questioned the existence of God and the validity of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Once again I was at a point in my life where I wanted to know what was true. I started the process all over again however this time it took me 3 years to figure things out. I was nervous and scared. The process was hard and long. I received answers slowly and line upon line. I learned to be patient with myself and the discovery process. I was persistent and never gave up. I followed my heart and trusted in the promptings I had. As I did this I learned more and more. And here I am once again discovering the same conclusion I had when I was 14. My heart and mind both recognize through my life experiences, education, study, prayer, and faith that this church is true. I have to live what I know to be true and this is true.

How I live my faith

I love living my faith. I live my faith everyday when I show love for others. I love making other people's days better through smiling, listening, supporting, and doing thoughtful things for them. I try to be the best person I can be everyday. I go to church every Sunday and learn about our Savior Jesus Christ. I am grateful The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints asks it's member to serve in different capacities within the organization. Through this I have had the privilege of teaching and mentoring the youth, organizing and planning fun activities, creating opportunities for people to share their beliefs, teach a religious class for adults every Sunday, and much more. I live my faith by taking the time to put the Lord first in my life. I do this by studying his words (from the Bible, Book of Mormon, and modern day Prophets), praying daily, focusing on others needs more than mine, and following the inspired impressions and thoughts I receive. I love my life because I live my faith.
