Hi I'm Israel

I love life. I'm a Graphic Designer. I'm a citizen of the world. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am originally from Brazil. I love all sports, but obviously soccer is my favorite. I worked for a while as a graphic designer and as a computer technician.

Why I am a Mormon

I'm a Mormon because it makes me happy. The fulness of the gospel of Jesus Christ gives me peace in the present and hope for the future. I was raised as a member and I never really questioned the Church. One day I realized that I needed to stop living on my parent's testimony. I decided to read the Book of Mormon and pray to ask God if that book was true and if Joseph Smith really was a prophet of Jesus Christ. I received an answer. The Holy Ghost testified in my heart that what I read was true and good. The everlasting gospel of our Savior is once again restored on the earth and the priesthood authority to perform saving ordinances, such as baptism, has been restored.

How I live my faith

I live my life in a way that would make my Heavenly Father proud of me. I try to go about doing good and serving people just as the Savior would do. I try to say what He would say, to do what He would do, to love as He would love. There is nothing more rewarding in this world than living a clean and respectful life. To know that even though I am not perfect the Atonement of Jesus Christ can make me clean and provide me the support to overcome anything in life. Life is good and beautiful. Whenever I'm down I look around me and I try to notice the simple, tender mercies that the Lord has blessed me.

What is the priesthood?

The priesthood is the authority to act in God’s name to perform saving ordinances such as baptism, giving the gift of the Holy Ghost, administering the Sacrament, and others. Ordinances are outward things we do that reflect our inward feelings and desires to follow Jesus. When ordinances are performed by the right authority blessings are unlocked in that person's life that will allow him or her to live with God forever if they follow the teachings of Jesus. Male members who receive the priesthood are expected to honor God's laws. They are expected fulfill priesthood duties such as blessing the sick, bringing hope, and serving a full-time mission. Although none of us are perfect yet, we are expected to repent, change, and become more like Jesus everyday. Show more Show less

Why do some call Mormonism a cult?

I think that we are called a cult because people of other faiths either don't understand our doctrine very well or they may have been exposed to false ideas and notions. There is a lot of stuff out there on the Internet about the LDS church that is very far from the truth. Also there are things that are true but have been extremely scandalized and mixed with false concepts. I think that the best way to learn more about the LDS church is to talk to the missionaries and then ask God if what they teach is true. God never lies. Show more Show less
