Hi I'm chapman.e

I enjoy music, playing & watching sports, & spending time with my family. I love the gospel! I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints serving in the Iowa Des Moines Mission. I love and cherish these two years that I have to serve the Lord as a full-time representative of Him. I plan on going back to Brigham Young University after my mission to study Accounting and Chemistry. I love my family and enjoy spending time with them doing things that are both exciting and mundane. I also love to listen to and play music, to watch, track, and play sports, but mostly, right now, I like to share the gospel of Jesus Christ and to study the words of Christ.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I know that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is truly the same Church that the Savior Jesus Christ established when He walked the earth thousands of years ago. I have recognized that as I have acted upon my belief in the validity of the Church and of Jesus Christ as my Savior, that my life has improved. I find that for many people, the question is not, "is it true or not," it is "so why does that matter if it is true?" or "how is the truth possibly relevant to me?" In my life, I have received an answer to both of these questions. As I have studied and prayed and studied again to determine the truthfulness of the doctrines of this Church, I have found them to be completely true. As my belief has been tested and tried, it has been fortified through further investigation. But, beyond just a cognitive recognition of the truthfulness of the "Mormon" doctrine, I am a Mormon because as I live the teachings of Jesus Christ and of the Church, I see the invaluable happiness and peace that results. Living the gospel give me joy and it gives me purpose, it helps me to have the perspective to wade through the confusing and difficult times in life, with the hope of a brighter future. As I participate in my Church, my connection to and understanding of Jesus Christ and His marvelous sacrifice deepens, and this connection is of the greatest worth to me. Yes, in short, I am a Mormon because I have received personal witness/evidence that the gospel is true and also that it can bless and better my life; and my invitation to anyone who reads this is to test these truths as I have, because Jesus is the Christ, and if you want to grow closer to Him, this is the place for you.

How I live my faith

I live my faith in simple ways. As I believe and testify that the Book of Mormon is truly the word of God delivered to His prophets, I exercise my faith as I invest my time to read, study, and ponder the words therein. As I believe that God is my Father and that he is actively engaged in listening to my prayers, I pray to my Heavenly Father, and pause to listen to the answers that come. I live my faith as I serve others. As a missionary, I have had the incredible privilege to serve and to teach people from a broad spectrum of backgrounds. It has been and continues to be an incomparably humbling and learning experience, where I have come to spend every minute of every day with the purpose and goal of serving and helping others to come unto Christ. In living my faith, I have learned that my faith always grows as I live it. My faith cannot be static. As I exercise the faith that I have, my personal conviction and testimony inevitably expands, such that, as I am actively engaged in doing good, I always grow closer to and stronger in my belief of my Father in Heaven. As I live my faith in service and in the simple things of scripture study and prayer, I have also found that my love for others and for my Savior continually grows, and that my desire to improve does as well. In short, I live my faith by obeying God's commandments, and as I do, I am blessed, especially with an increase of that same faith I am living.
