Hi I'm Darrel

I am a software engineer, a family man with a wonderful wife and three beautiful girls, a sports and outdoors lover, and a Mormon.

About Me

I am a software engineer who writes path-planning motion-contol software. I love to be intellectually challenged at work and in life. I love sports, camping, hiking, software, reading, teaching and traveling. I have recently completed three half-marathons. I have a beautiful wife and three wonderful girls, who I love spending time with. Family time is very important to me. I graduated from BYU with a degree in Electrical Engineering and served a mission to New Zealand. I have been a Disaster Services volunteer with the American Red Cross for over a decade, and regularly teach a programming class at a local college.

Why I am a Mormon

My mom joined the church when I was young, so I was essentially raised in the church. However when I was a teenager there came a time when I had to find out for myself. I had an intellectual testimony of the gospel at the time, but my true testimony came from reading the Book of Mormon, praying, and testifying of the gospel to others. The spiritual confirmation that came and continues to come while doing these activities is the foundation of my testimony.

How I live my faith

I try to set a positive example to everyone I know, especially my children. I strive to understand and live in accordance with what the Lord wants me to do. I have served in numerous callings in the church, but the most common is as a teacher. I have taught in many different capacities, but none was more rewarding than the four years I spent teaching early-morning seminary. The high-school students would come each morning at 6:00 for seminary, and we covered the Old Testament, the New Testament, the Book of Mormon, and The Doctine and Covenants during those four years. I learned a tremendous amount while teaching this class and loved the spirit that was in our class.
