Hi I'm Laura

I'm a mother, wife, volunteer, blogger and photographer. And I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a busy mom of three sons. I volunteer at their schools, take them to their various music lessons and basically get them to wherever they need to go! Service is a huge part of my life! Three years ago I started a service group that meets once a month to do a service project that benefits one of the many local organizations or the world-wide humanitarian efforts of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I'm the advisor for the service club at my son's high school, too. I love seeing the joy in these wonderful teenage faces as they experience the joy of serving others! I love to blog and record what's going on with our family's daily life: the big, small, ugly and beautiful. I guess you could say I'm our family historian! Photography is near and dear to my heart! Nature photography has been a hobby of mine for years and recently I've started taking portraits of families and find that very rewarding. I love capturing an image that they will treasure forever. Family time is my favorite time! We love playing board games, family date nights and getting out in nature together.

Why I am a Mormon

The gospel of Jesus Christ means everything to me. I don't know where I'd be without it. Growing up, my family didn't go to church very often. I loved my parents dearly and I knew they loved me. As a teenager, I was very busy with jazz and ballet dancing and modeling. I had friends that I enjoyed hanging out with. I did fine in school. However, I felt something was missing ... I remember one night in high school, I thought to myself that there had to be something more to life. There had to be something more meaningful for me in my life. A thought came to my mind that I needed to go back to church. Even though I was very nervous, I went back. I was afraid the other kids would judge me. I couldn't have been more wrong. They all welcomed me back with open arms. I haven't missed church since. That single decision has changed my life. With my brother's encouragement, I applied to go to college at BYU. To my amazement I was accepted. There I read the Book of Mormon for the first time, meet my dearest friend and my future husband. I truly became converted. The gospel has helped me and my husband raise our three sons with direction and guidance on how to be like our Savior, Jesus Christ. As I pray, read the scriptures and serve in the Church I feel a peace that can only come from God. It makes me a better person, wife and mother. The knowledge that I have of my Redeemer and His love for me has seen me through several tragic events. Within six years I lost a sister, my beloved dad and my dear brother who has always been one of my best friends. I know that the only way that I made it through is because I know that Heavenly Father has a plan for us. He knows us. He wants us to live eternally with Him and our beloved families. We are truly children of God and we are here in this life as a test to prove our faithfulness and love to HIm. The gift of the Holy Ghost is a precious comforter and blesses my life daily.

How I live my faith

I love church! I love going to all of my church meetings every single Sunday. To me it feels like home. I love serving in the Lord's kingdom. Currently, I am a Primary teacher for the precious 4 year olds. I love sharing my love and testimony of our Savior with them. Our family has found tremendous blessings as we faithfully have "Family Home Evening" each Monday night. Ever since the boys were very little we held it. We have always took turns with the various jobs: lesson, music, treats, activity, etc... Our boys have grown up learning about and teaching the gospel. Right from the start they had little budding testimonies that Jesus loved them. It has been a blessing to see their testimonies grow so much over the years. Our oldest son is now preparing to serve the Lord by going on a two year mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. This is such a big adventure and honor for our entire family. My three sons will be the first three missionaries to serve from my side of the family. I am excited for my son. I know that he will have such joy as he brings the message of God's love to others. The gospel of Jesus Christ is a beautiful gift that we get to reopen every day of our lives.
