Hi I'm Jon

I'm a Biomedical Engineering student at the University of Utah. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I would say that my favorite hobby is reading. I could spend all day reading books. Especially science fiction novels and short-stories. I also enjoy music quite a bit - I play the guitar, violin, and mandolin. I love target-shooting with firearms of all types. I am attending the University of Utah majoring in Biomedical Engineering. I am currently engaged to the love of my life who lives in Panama...the only thing that keeps us from getting married is obtaining the visa so that she can come here. My mother is from Chile and my father is from the United States. I am fluent in both Spanish and English and love both of my cultures.

Why I am a Mormon

The Holy Ghost has confirmed many basic Gospel truths to my soul, let me share a few of them with you. Jesus is the Christ, the promised Messiah testified of by all the holy prophets. He was really born of Mary and is the Son of the Eternal Father. He paid the eternal price for every single one of us with his holy blood. He is the King of Kings, the Lord of Lords, and my personal Savior and Redeemer. In the year 1830, he restored the Church that He himself had organized during His earthly ministry. As proof of this restoration, he revealed The Book of Mormon: Another Testament of Jesus Christ to the world through his prophet Joseph Smith. I was born into a Latter-Day Saint family and was taught these beliefs ever since I was born. On September 6, 1998 I received the gift of the Holy Ghost (the day after my baptism). Ever since this day I have exerted myself to obey the Lord's commandments and to seek Him in all things. As a result of my efforts, the Lord constantly adds to the testimony that I now have. I never had to rely on the testimony of my family - What I say that I believe in was actually revealed to me from the heavens by the power of the Holy Ghost (Matthew 16:13-17 New Testament). For this reason, I have never left nor will I ever leave The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. I love this perfect organization that my Lord has once again placed on this Earth. I receive so many blessings through being an actively practicing "Mormon." I know who I am, who I was before coming to this Earth, and who I will be for all eternity. This knowledge bring a constant peace to my life. No matter what happens, I always have my testimony of the truthfulness of this Gospel. "My joy is full" (3 Nephi 17:20 The Book of Mormon).

How I live my faith

I start off every day by getting on my knees and thanking God for all the blessings that I have in my life. I then study the Holy Scriptures (I try to get at least an hour of study in daily). I attend church every Sunday and try to live an ordinary Christian life every day (Alma 34:28 The Book of Mormon). My true joy comes from treating others with kindness and helping them with their problems. Our relationships with others is a true sign of how devoted we really are to worshiping Jesus Christ. I recently returned home from serving a 2 year mission, and am very excited to see what the rest of my life has in store for me. I currently serve in my church ward, helping others to come unto Christ just as I did on the mission. I also serve at the Jordan River temple, a calling which brings the Lord's choicest blessings upon those whom I serve, and upon myself.
