Hi I'm Rachel

I'm blonde and a southern girl. I'm a perfectionist and I don't settle for anything short of my best. And I'm a mormon!

About Me

I absolutely love music. It's the most beautiful form of art in the world. It can make you feel extraordinary emotions and always lift you up when you need a hand. I enjoy being part of musical theatre at my school as well as being a student athlete in my passion for volleyball. I'm a total nerd, even though people never expect that from me. Half the people that know me think I'm quiet and shy, and the other half have a hard time getting me to be quiet! I love being different and surprising people by doing something unexpected. I know I'm a daughter of my Heavenly Father, who loves me as much as he loves all his children. I'm not perfect. I have countless flaws. But I know the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints is true, no doubts about it. The only perfect part about me is the gospel being a part of my life. I've lived in the south for 99% of my life. I love how the people here are so compassionate and care for one another, so it means the world to me to know that I've made someone's day brighter by simply smiling at them or lending a helping hand.

Why I am a Mormon

I'm a minority in my community. There aren't many Mormons in my area. But this just makes me stronger. I have to work that much harder to rise above the world around me and stand out. I am just like them, but in my own ways I'm different. I have something in my life none of the others have: The gospel of Jesus Christ. Why should I be the only one with this great gift? I want everyone to know the light and happiness it brings. Christ is the only person I can always turn to, and he'll always tell me that he understands. That comfort and love is what keeps me going. That's why I'm a Mormon.

How I live my faith

It's impossible to have a testimony of the church and not live it. Faith isn't idle, its an action. One cannot truly say that they know the church is true, but not do anything about it. I try my best everyday to be obedient to the commandments God has given me. This isn't limited to the Ten Commandments. The living prophet is given revelation to share with the rest of the church. For example, I live by the standards expected of me. I don't wear mini skirts, tank tops, or clothes that are way to tight like some teenagers do. I stay away from drugs and alcohol because I know that my body is a temple, and I respect it as a gift from God. My friends know that they can't say certain words or talk about inappropriate topics around me, because I'm not interested in being a part of that type of environment. I attend seminary where I learn more about the scriptures. I turn down offers to go shopping or hang out with my friends on Sundays, because it is a holy day reserved for rest and worshiping God.

Who chooses the Mormon prophet?

Some people have the wrong idea of what a prophet is or does. The prophet himself does not make the decisions, rather, he is a messenger, the person on earth selected by the Lord to share with His people what they should do and how to live their life. Show more Show less

What do Mormons believe is the purpose of life?

Our time on earth is really a very short time of our eternity, but these few years make all the difference. We were sent to earth to be tested, and based on how we react and if we obey God's commandments is how we are judged in the final days. Its very important that each choice we make is working toward the goal of going back to live with our Heavenly Father. Eternal happiness is much more important than temporary happiness.
