Hi I'm Teverly

I'm a Mormon. But I'm a convert to the Church. I found out about the church when I was 24 years old. That was 38 years ago.

About Me

I am a Grandma and a Retired Register Nurse. I enjoy reading alot. Especially classics but most of all the scriptures. My husband and I go to the Senior Citizen Center twice a week for lunch and enjoy visiting with the other senior citizens of Monticello. Since they found out I was a nurse they have recruited me to cut the Seniors toenails. I go to the Temple in our small town at least once a week and my husband and I enjoy going up the mountain to see the animals and change of colors of the trees in the Fall.

Why I am a Mormon

I'm a Mormon because as a young women I prayed for my Heavenly Father's help. I grew up as a Southern Baptist and had read the Bible and knew about prayer and that if you Ask with a sincere heart He will answer you. So I attempted to ask for help and the voice I heard said "Get up take care of your children and things will be taken care of." I hesitated thinking what was that...was I talking to myself...so I kept praying and the same voice said. "Get up take care of your children and things will be taken care of." I immediately got up and went into the kitchen to make dinner for my children and the voice came again and said,"Go to your sister Mary's in Flagstaff and things will be taken care of." Well I hadn't seen my sister in a few years and didn't know where she lived but I obeyed. I went to Flagstaff, AZ and the day we went it was raining so hard we could hardly see the road. When I got into Flagstaff I thought now what I don't know where she lives. The thought immediately came into my mind to go to a telephone booth and look up her telephone and address. I found her name and phone number in the book and called her and she said,"Teverly, if it hadn't been raining we would have gone deer hunting." So you see even the rain the Lord took care of so Mary would be home when I called. I soon learned why I was to go to my sister Mary's ... two weeks previous the Missionaries had knocked on her door and she had been taught the Gospel. She had a Book of Mormon for me and she told me all about it. I knew even before I read the book that this was what the Lord was leading me to. The True Church. I read the Book of Mormon through in just two weeks and knew it was True. I found out through prayer and hearing Hugh B. Brown Profile of A Prophet that Joseph Smith was a true prophet just like all the prophets I had read in the Old Testament. I know this church is true and have learned over time other great truths. Prayer Works!!!

How I live my faith

I try to be an example of how Jesus Christ lived his life. I repent everyday of the small things and try to be better each day. I read scriptures every day and go to The Temple once a week and feel of His Spirit there. I attend my church meetings and Keep All The Commandments. I know I am a Daughter of my Heavenly Father who loves me and I love Him. I try to Stand as a Witness to Him in all things and in all places as I strive to live worthy of living with Him one day when I leave this world. I serve as a Visiting Teacher in the Relief Society and A Family History Consultant in the Family History Center. I am Happy to serve in anything I am called to do.
