Hi I'm Ashley

I am from Georgia. I am working on a Master's degree in Civil Engineering. I love the outdoors and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I love the outdoors and absolutely anything to do with water. My Master's degree is specifically in Water Resources working with open channel hydraulics and stream bed restoration. In my free time, I love to sew and am just starting to branch out and learn how to quilt. I am happily married to my best friend, Bryan Nay. He makes every day for me sunshiny and bright. I get on travelocity.com regularly to check out the deals on flights for the day. I look forward to the day when I get to have the money to actually buy some of the great deals I find and go on the exciting adventures associated with traveling the world.

Why I am a Mormon

Although I have been raised in the LDS faith, I still believe that I chose to be apart of this Church. At any point in my life, I could have chosen differently, but instead I chose to follow this faith because of the experiences I have had in my life that confirm to me that Heavenly Father is real and that Jesus Christ lives. A close childhood friend of mine died in a car crash when I was 15. Initially, I really struggled with understanding why a loving God would allow something so tragic to happen. I focused my scripture studies on the Savior and His individual plan for each of us. I searched the teachings of the Savior and earnestly tried to understand the Atonement and the Plan of Salvation. Since that experience, I look back and see a lot of growth inside of me. Although at the time I questioned the love I felt from Heavenly Father, now I know without any hesitation that He has loved me from the beginning and continues to love me now. No, my life isn't easy. I still go through difficult circumstances but knowing that there is a purpose for me in this life greatly strengthens me through my trials. I believe that we are here on this earth to become like God. In order to become like Him, we have to have gone through similar trials that He has gone through. I am not trying to undermine the Atonement, or claim that I can do what He did. Under no circumstances could anyone else have gone through Gethsemane or hung on that cross. What I am trying to explain is that we all have to go through our own Gethsemane's; situations that try us to our fullest extent in order to become like our Heavenly Father. I know He has a plan for me. I know He loves me and that He lives. Knowing this is the reason I wake up smiling and carry that happiness with me throughout each day.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by trying to serve other daily. I wake up in the mornings and read my scriptures because I want the Lord to know that I am putting Him as a priority in my life. In my ward, I am serving on the Family History Committee. I am familiar with the Church History websites, personal ancestral files and how to do genealogical work.
