Hi I'm Lexie

I a road-trip loving, photo-taking, bedtime story reading wife and mother of four. I am a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up with a love of travel. I was privileged to spend a month in Europe when I was sixteen and to spend a few weeks in Israel, Egypt, and Jordan a few years later. It strengthened my love of various cultures and people and I decided that I would return. I did go back two years later and was able to spend four months doing study abroad in Jerusalem. It was a wonderful opportunity for me to learn about the Savior and walk in His footseps. Being away from my normal life gave me more time for self-reflection and understanding the plan that Jesus has for me. I graduated in Business Management/Organizational Behavior and worked in the field for a few years while my husband finished his degree and the company home-based me while he started medical school. I was diagnosed with thyroid cancer while pregnant with our second child and after she was born, we made a conscious decision that I wanted to be home with my kids. I feel like I only have one chance to raise them and I need to make the most of it! Thanks to faith, prayer, and great medical care, I have been cancer free for 5 years. As we've moved for residency, and now a job, our family has also grown. Life is sometimes crazy, but my great husband and my four kids keep me laughing and keep me on my toes. My family gives every day a new purpose. They fill my life with love and gratitude. I love to sing, read, scrapbook, dabble in photography, do crafts with my kids, and go on date nights with my husband.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I know that it is a true church. I want to be a better person each day and the only way I can do that is to turn to Christ. Through his Atonement I can repent of my mistakes and allow Him to change my heart. I am grateful for prayer and scriptures and the way they bless my life. I am a Mormon because I believe that God talks to us today through His prophet. When I follow the teachings in the scriptures and the teachings of Latter-day prophets life isn't always easy, but it is easier. I love that wherever I move, my family is taught the same doctrine - a doctrine that I believe with all of my heart. The people are different, but the doctrine is the same thanks to a living prophet. I love the standards of the church and am trying to teach my children unselfishness, modesty, chastity, and love for their fellowmen (even their siblings!). I love the spirit that is in my life and in my home when I am following the teachings of the Lord - taught through His church. I love that I can have the gift of the Holy Ghost to guide me and help me to make good decisions as long as I am worthy. I ama Mormon because I know that God lives, loves us, and has a plan for us to return to Him as families. I am a Mormon becuase it makes sense to me. It feels right. It is just who I am.

How I live my faith

I always wish that I lived my faith better, maybe everyone feels that way. I try to live my faith every day in what I wear, say, eat, and most of all how I treat others. We read the scriptures at night as a family and pray as a family in the morning before the kids leave for school, at meal times, and at bedtime. On Monday nights we have Family night - we all take turns giving a spiritual message, an activity and providing a treat! My kids love it even though it gets out of hand sometimes and it's nice to set aside a night just for our family. At church I get to teach the4-5 year old children. I love hearing them sing songs and share their feelings about what they know. Children love Jesus and aren't afraid to share it. With another lady in my congregation we get to visit and chat with 3 other ladies. It is such a fun opportunity to get together outside of church and talk about parenting, daily life, and spiritual things.
