Hi I'm Laurie

I'm a wife and a stay at home mom. I enjoy running, biking and kayaking. I love to laugh, smile and have a good time.I'm a Mormon.

About Me

My husband and I have been married for 5 years and have been blessed with two wonderful children. Currently, my husband is going to school to study physics. I am a stay at home mom. Most of my day is kept occupied with taking care of the kids but I manage to find time for myself. I have recently picked up on drawing again. I love to draw silly characters and hope to learn how to draw realistic pictures. I enjoy running, biking and am horrible at swimming. But I've committed myself to train for the next 12 months and participate in a sprint triathalon next fall. I'm not super crafty gal, but I'm in the process of branching out and learning how to sew.

Why I am a Mormon

I've been a member of the church all my life. Do I follow His gospel because I haven't known any different? No. I follow because I have tried and tested the principles taught. When my family and I relocated so my husband could go to school we went through a rough process to get here. There were times when we didn't have the money to take care of expenses. We decided to rely on God and the power of prayer. The blessings received have been above and beyond what we could imagine. I have felt the love of my Savior for me and my family so many times through the moving process. It was a steady pillar in our storm.

How I live my faith

I love to teach about the gospel. Over the last 5 years all of my church assignments have been teaching assignments. When my husband and I were first married we were asked to teach in the nursery, and then I was reassigned to teach the 8 year old class for about a year and a half. More recently I have been assigned to teach the women of our congregation. Being a teacher is an amazing assignment. You spend hours on studying the material, hoping you understand everything to effectively teach it. You learn so much as a teacher, it almost breaks your heart that you impart all of your knowledge on a subject for fear of information overload! hahaha. I also love being a teacher because it isn't confined to a classroom. There have been countless times that I have been able to teach the gospel to my friends and family just in our everyday conversations. The gospel is my life and I enjoy teaching it.
