Hi I'm Marina

I am a dyslexia tutor. I teach children and adults who have dyslexia reading, spelling and math and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a wife and mother. I have always loved to read. As my husband and I raised our children, I experienced a growing desire to teach children how to read. I wanted to help those who struggle to read well and I wanted to share my love of reading with them. When I reentered the work force, my opportunity came -- I began at a school to help those who struggle. Soon I learned about dyslexia and my quest to learn more began. As I learned of the heartbreak and struggle of both children and their parents and families, my desire to help became even greater. Today, I am a Certified Tutor and teach reading, spelling and math to both children and adults who have dyslexia. I love teaching my students! It is my passion! I love seeing my students happiness when they know they are succeeding. I love knowing that I am helping to make their lives happier and better. I love to see the joy on the faces of parents who know their children are finally succeeding.

Why I am a Mormon

Teaching those who have dyslexia is not my only passion. My first passion, and the one that has always given meaning to my life is my love for my Savior, Jesus Christ. He is my guide and my example to follow. Living his gospel, as he taught it when he walked this earth, has brought me happiness and has always given my life direction and purpose. When I was a teenager, I made a promise to a teacher that I would read the Book of Mormon. I had been raised a Mormon. I had always attended church. I believed what I had been taught. I knew many stories from the scriptures, both from the Bible and from the Book of Mormon. Never before, however, had I ever read and studied the scriptures for myself. My true love of the scriptures began when I accepted the challenge to read the Book of Mormon. I read a little each evening. One evening, I read of Jesus Christ's visit to the people in America soon after his resurrection. I read of how He asked for the little children to be brought to him and I read of how he blessed them. The scene was so real to me and touched my heart. I read how angels came and surrounded the children. I began to cry. Never before had my heart been touched in this way. The experience changed my life. Since that day, I have had many, many wonderful experiences with the scriptures. In my study, I have felt the same sweet, peaceful spirit while reading the Bible as I have while reading the Book of Mormon. Why am I a Mormon? Because it is Christ's church and contains His teachings. It is true! I found it out for myself and I rejoice in that knowledge every day!

How I live my faith

I live my faith by striving each day to live as Jesus Christ teaches us to do. I strive to love others. As a tutor, I love my students and their parents and I give them my best--all that is in me to give. I serve at church also and have loved the opportunities I have had to serve others there. Before my marriage, I served for 18 months as a missionary, serving in the states of New York, Pennsylvania and New Jersey. I am so grateful for that opportunity to serve. Since then, I have taught and served in positions of leadership in the church's woman's organization, young woman's organization and the children's organization. I have served as a cub scout leader. I have served in the community, facilitating Active Parenting classes and serving on the PTO at my children's schools. As I have served, I have made wonderful friends and my capacity to love others has grown.
