Hi I'm Doug Swift

I'm a graduate of the U.S. Air Force Academy and a retired aerospace engineer. My wife & I live in the Philippines. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Family is the most important thing to me. My wife and I have a large family with eight children and we love spending time together or doing things with the children and their families. My hobbies include reading, writing and hiking. I have worked for over 30 years as an aerospace engineer on various aircraft, space and missile projects; such as the Space Shuttle, Sea Launch, Titan IV, and Delta lauch vehicles, and the B-52 Stratofortress, P-8 Poseidon, and AEW&C Wedgetail aircraft. I think the right attitude can make all the difference in how happy one is, whether one is going through a good time or experiencing trials.

Why I am a Mormon

I joined the church when I was in the Air Force shortly after I had graduated from the Air Force Academy. My wife was a new member also and she introduced me to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I already believed in Jesus Christ and had accepted him as my savior and had been active with the Navigators campus program at school. When I read the Book of Mormon I became convinced it was the word of God just as surely as the Bible. I learned that God and Jesus Christ had appeared to Joseph Smith and called him as a prophet to restore the fullness of the gospel. I was baptized into the church and have never regretted it. I know without doubt this is the true church of Jesus Christ.

How I live my faith

Staying involved in church activities and coming to church on Sunday and reading scriptures help me to be a better disciple of Jesus Christ. I want to be like my Savior and to follow His commandments as much as possible. There are always lots of opportunities to help others through the church and that is the best way to grow personally. The church has also been a big help to me in raising my family and teaching them right from wrong and faith in Jesus Christ. I know from experience that the gospel is true, Jesus Christ lives, this is His church, and we can return to live with Him if we accept Him as our Savior, join His church through baptism, and strive to following His commandments. This is the great plan of happiness for life while on earth and in heaven.
