Hi I'm Ryan Patterson

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Hi! My name is Ryan and I'm a pretty simple person. I'm currently going to school for two degrees, Physical Education and Education. I love to play sports and I rarely find myself not playing something every part of the year. I play basketball almost all year round. Slow pitch and golf from spring to the fall. Hockey at the ODR (out door rink) during the winter and I recently got back into skiing, which I love! I love the mountains and live about 4 hours away from the Canadian Rockies and try to go as much as I can.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born and raised in the church and I honestly can't see myself having such a wonderful life without the gospel. One of my favorite scriptures has got to be 2 Nephi 2:25 which reads "Adam fell that men might be; and men are, that they might have joy." I have reflected on my life and realized that the blessings that I have received have come from my Heavenly Father. I have been tested and I know that living the teachings of this church are hard but soooo worth it. I will always try to be the best I can be because I know that it is worth it.

How I live my faith

My life is centered around my faith and the decisions I make to do the things I've been taught at church. These decisions do not make me some crazy religious person but help me be more of a generous, selfless, enthusiastic and positive person. Choices like not drinking, smoking, or just getting proper sleep are all things that have helped me stay healthy and get a good education. Other decisions like choosing to serve in my church callings and choosing church activities over other "fun" things are decisions I make not because I have to or because I think that God will bless me but because I want to. When you realize how amazing and important this church is the time spent doing church things is time you want to spend, not time you have to spend. If you're reading these profiles and you're concerned with how much time or materials or activities we sacrifice all I have to say is take the leap. Take a leap of faith and you will find out for yourself why we do it. I know it's hard as I have done it myself and continue to take that leap of faith everyday, but the joy you will find in your life is so worth it.
