Hi I'm Janet

I've always liked to help people. My children are almost grown. I'm going back to school for a nursing degree. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

My father died when I was one year old. I was raised by my grandparents, and when my grandfather died when I was 15 I thought that would break up our family. It didn't. I learned to care for others on a different level. I married and we adopted 2 wonderfully different children. We were happy, but lived far from my mother and grandmother. I felt that I couldn't care for them the way I wanted to. Finally in 1997 I invited them to come live out their years in our home. We've added one more child by adoption, and lost my grandmother a few years later. She influences me greatly with the wisdom I heard when I was young but couldn't understand yet. I can hear in my mind her voice and her thoughts and it helps me to be better. She always prayed for understanding, and I now do too.

Why I am a Mormon

It makes me happy. I am a better person, a better mother, a better friend and a better neighbor. I feel when I read the scriptures like there is something in there written just for me that day. As I continue to study I find answers to the thorny problems that come up. I feel like Heavenly Father helps me through the scriptures. As I follow the teachings of the Church I feel comfort and peace, like I'm doing the right thing. I have many opportunities to help others often, either through just noticing that someone has a need, or through the humanitarian aid program of the church, or the youth programs, teaching the scriptures, visiting teaching or whatever. I think that the teachings of the church closely mirror the Bible, and I love the look deeply in the Bible for symbolism and meaning. I feel good knowing the God hasn't changed He is now as He was in the beginning.

How I live my faith

I try to lift others every day. I make it my mission to make people feel better about themselves and about life. I always try to say something nice. I also love to work with the humanitarian aid organization. We put together school kits and hygiene kits to be sent to anywhere in the world that they're needed. What a good feeling it is to do something for someone anonymously. They won't know who helped them, it's fun. I want to follow the Savior Jesus Christ, and I show Him that in the way I dress, speak, treat others, and it doesn't matter if anyone is watching, because I know He is.
