Hi I'm Thor

I grew up in Mesa, Arizona, served a full-time Church mission in Taiwan, and graduated from Arizona State. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a father and new grandfather! I never thought getting older would be so much fun! I LOVE to travel with my family and enjoy swimming, boating, water skiing, scuba diving, snorkeling, body surfing, riding Harley Davidson motorcycles, dirt bikes, snow mobiles, and photography. Because I lived in Taiwan for two years, I speak Mandarin and have a deep respect for the Chinese and their culture. I am an Eagle Scout and have been involved in the Scouting program for many years.

Why I am a Mormon

My parents joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints when I was only five years old. Although I was raised in the Church, I had to know for myself before I could try to convert others. I was raised in a quiet community with friends of many denominations and we respected each others beliefs and religious culture. I gained an appreciation for the scriptures as we read them together at night as a family. I have always been a person of faith, and as we read the different accounts of Christ and His discipleship, I accepted it as a historical fact. I have never personally traveled to Australia or Tanzania, but I don't doubt their existence because of the many people that have been there. For the same reason, I have never doubted the existence, miracles performed, or crucifixion of the Savior because of the many personal witnesses that testify of Him. While I have never considered myself to be especially in tune with things of a Spiritual nature, I do have a strong testimony of the truthfullness of the Gospel. I also believe with every fiber of my being that Joseph Smith actually saw God the Father and His Son, Jesus Christ in answer to his prayers. Moreover, I believe that he spoke with them as one man speaks with another. I also believe that God communicates to His prophets today as He did in ancient times, and that the Church and Priesthood authority has been restored to the earth and organized as it was when Christ established it during the meridian of time. I have a deep and abiding faith that Thomas S. Monson has been called of God as His Prophet upon the earth today, and that we can know the mind and will of God by heeding his counsel.

How I live my faith

After receiving the confirmation of my testimony of Christ, I recognized the responsibility I had to share the Gospel with others, so I was blessed to have the privilege of being called to serve a two year mission in Taiwan. I have always felt comfortable answering questions (and dispelling myths) about the Church when approached by my friends. These conversations always start innocently enough by recognizing that I act somehow different, like not drinking an alcoholic beverage with my lunch or dinner, or not using the Lord's name in vain in stressful situations. One of the greatest blessings in my life has been to watch my friends come to a personal knowledge that God is aware of them, that He loves them, and be with them as they go to one of the beautiful temples and make sacred covenants with God so their family can be together throughout eternity.
