Hi I'm Pono

I'm a musician, a daughter, an athlete, a sister, a friend, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Hi! I'm Pono. My name is Hawaiian and my full name means, "to seek after righteousness." I have a mom and a dad, five siblings, a step mom and two step siblings. I grew up in Washington state and lived there my whole life until I came to college. I love playing cello, piano, and singing. I also love sports. Frisbee and soccer are my favorites. I am a runner; I fell in love with it during high school when I started cross country. I recently ran my first half marathon and my next goal is to do a full one. I was attending college in Utah, majoring in cello performance and minoring in french. I played in an orchestra and sang in a choir on campus. Right now, I am serving a mission in the Vanuatu Port Vila Mission, speaking french. I am sooo excited to have this opportunity to serve the Lord!! I will be out until March of 2014. My brother will be out serving a mission at the same time as me. He will be serving in the West Indies Mission, also french speaking. I love fall. It's my favorite season. My two favorite holidays are Black Friday and Pi Day. I love to do anything outdoors, hike, run, climb, etc. I LOVE to travel. I've been to over half of the states in the U.S., as well as Canada, England, France, Belgium, Holland, and Germany.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because being a member of this church makes me happy. It is the reason I get out of bed in the morning, even if I have a particularly long day ahead of me. It helps me hold my head high amidst a sea of to-do lists, trials, and sadness. I am a Mormon because I know that this is the true church of Jesus Christ on the earth. I know this because I've prayed and asked my Heavenly Father if it is true, and he answers everyday through the Holy Ghost, as I read my scriptures and try to do whats right. I am a Mormon because it gives me hope and gives me something to look forward to. I know that because Christ atoned for our sins, we can repent and be made clean. We can progress to become like Him because we are children of God. This is why I am a Mormon and why I want to share this happiness with everyone around me.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by doing the little things each and everyday. I read my scriptures, pray to my Heavenly Father, and read the words of the prophets. I live my faith by going to church every week and attending the temple. I try and serve those around me and do as Jesus would do if he were here in my place. I try and use my talents to bless the lives of others. I live my faith by sharing a smile and by giving words of encouragement to those around me. By trying to be an example to all. I live my faith by loving everyone.
