Hi I'm Jodie

I am a mom, grandma and wife. I grew up in California. I love to snow ski and water ski. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Spending time with my family are my most fun times. Having grandchildren is the best! We love to water ski at Lake Powell and snow ski in Utah. I enjoy running and participating in triathlons and half-marathons. I have spent most of my married years as a stay at home mom, volunteering at my children's schools in various capacities from PTO President to Cheerleader MOM, and everything in between. After becoming an empty-nester I realized I needed to stay busy so I am now working in an Orthopedic Doctors office and I love it!!! I love meeting people and learning about the medical field. I received my BA degree in Interpersonal Communications from BYU many years ago but staying home with my children during their formative years was a high priority for me rather than being out in the work force. But I do love working now.

Why I am a Mormon

I am grateful my parents raised me in the Mormon faith as it has helped me learn character traits and virtues not taught in the world or in school. Learning to give service even when not asked is a big part of my religion and this brings me closer to the Savior. I am grateful I know God is real. I know He hears and answers my prayers even the little ones. I know he loves me. If I wasn't Mormon i might now have learned this truth and knowing God lives is what carries me through the hard times. I know we all have a purpose of why we are here.

How I live my faith

Throughout my adult life i have worked many years with the youth ages 12-18 in our church. I have been able to organize Girls camps for 300 people. I have planned over night outings with groups of 20 girls where we go on a retreat to learn more of Christs love for us. Taking youth to the lake has been a regular summer activity where I am able to build bonding and lasting friendships with young people that sometimes need a friend other than their own parents. I had the privilege of serving a mission for our church when I was 21 and was assigned to Mississippi and Louisiana in the USA. I loved it. The people down south are the nicest people I have met and they are the best cooks too. Being a Mormon is a way of life for me. It includes going to church on Sundays, visiting the temple once a week, visiting sisters in my congregations to see if they are in need of anything. It is reaching out to the lonely single sisters in our neighborhood. There is always some kind of service that can be rendered and thats what being a Mormon is all about.

What are Mormon women like? Do Mormons believe in equality of men and women?

Jodie
Mormon women are hard working and independant. They are multi-taskers serving their children, the schools their kids attend, and serving in the church. They don't wait around to be asked to do something - they see a need and go to work getting it done. Many of them are very creative and many are extremely organized. They are fun and outgoing. I have never felt any less important at church because I am a woman, infact I have felt the opposite many times. As the men in our church do recognize the contribution of service hours that women put in most of the time much more than the men. Show more Show less

How can I know Mormonism is true?

Jodie
God is the source of all truth. He loves you and wants to answer your questions. He will help you recognize the truth as you sincerely seek it and ask Him for guidance. You can know that what you’ve been learning is true (see James 1:5-6; Book of Mormon, Moroni 10:4-5). Sincerely pray to your Heavenly Father. Ask Him if what you are learning is true. Continue to study and give thoughtful consideration to what you are learning. Listen with your heart for the sweet feelings of inspiration from the Holy Ghost, who will to whisper the truth to your spirit and mind. Follow God’s commandments so you can feel the influence of the Holy Ghost. You may have experienced feelings of peace, hope, comfort, or happiness as you’ve read. If so, you have already felt the Holy Ghost telling you that these things are true. Show more Show less
