Hi I'm Maddy

I'm a volunteer, lover of a good adventure, warm sunny days and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I have a big love for the outdoors. I love hiking and being in the mountains. I also love being creative and creating things by hand. Adventure is a big part of who I am. I love traveling and learning about other places, people and culture.

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised as a member of the LDS faith but I haven't always had a testimony of it. Growing up I went to church, participated in activities and the regular day to day things but it wasn’t until I decided that I really needed to know for myself that all of it was true, that I gained a testimony. While I was serving in a South American Country working in orphanages I was holding a small baby boy in my arms who had recently been abandoned. While I held him I hummed my favorite children’s songs and then began to hum some from church. While working with abandoned children I often found myself questioning and wondering why God would let these innocent and beautiful children be left alone. After prayers and no answer I was just left to wonder. But while holding this small boy and humming a favorite song from primary "Heavenly Father are you really there? Do you hear and answer every child’s prayer" I was overcome with a sense of peace and indescribable amount of love. I felt and knew with all that was and is inside of me, that Heavenly Fathers loves all of his children. He loves those who are lost, those who have been left without, and even those who seem to have the perfect life. He loves each of us regardless of circumstance and he knows us and wants us to be happy. From that moment forward I have known that God loves me. I have prayed to know the truth of the gospel and have had the confirming witness from the Holy Ghost that it is true. I have read the Book of Mormon and come to know that it is truly the word of God. I know that Christ’s church has been restored to its perfect form and that it was accomplished through the Prophet Joseph Smith. I know that is was because of the small humble young boy who had a question of what he should do, that the fullness of the gospel was able to come forth. I love the simplicity of the Gospel and I know with all that I am that it is true.

How I live my faith

I think the most important way that we can share our faith is living it and being an every day example of exactly what we believe. We meet so many people every day and just being and example of our faith is huge! I know that I am a daughter of God and I try and emulate that in my actions and words to others. Missionary work isnt just for those with name-tags. I love missionary work in every capacity. I also love participating is any service opportunity that comes my way.
