Hi I'm Shary

I have been a Mormon all my life; Ogden, Utah was my home until I was 17, I went to Calif then spent 18 years on the East Coast.

About Me

I love 'learning'...I had 3-1/2 years of college in when I got married; after raising my six fantastic sons, I have gone back to school and have 78 credits under my belt...some day I will get my PhD, hope it is in this life! I enjoy skiing, snowmobiling, ice skating, swimming, hiking, horse-back riding, riding ATVs, biking, wondering on the beaches, flying when my son will take me up in his airplane, sitting in front of a fire-place with a good book or when my sons are around. I love the scriptures and hope to meet people like Noah and find out what they did on that big boat for nearly a year; I want to put my arms around King David; and share some time with Rachel; and to meet Ruth and Naomi; I have a thousand questions for Eve and just about that many for Joseph Smith. I pray I will be totally surprised on judgement day, especially to know that I have been extended the arm of mercy from my Lord and Savior, that the Atonement includes me and my broken heart. I love this beautiful World Heavenly Father has given us to live in while we find out what kind of person we want to be and who we want to live around throughout Eternity. I appreciate my good health and the happiness I have been given through my life.

Why I am a Mormon

It is inconceivable to me to leave God out of any theory! I love the concept that we have a Heavenly Father who wants to be part of our life, someone who cares about us…all we have to do is pray with a sincere heart and real intent. I am so grateful I have a testimony, I cherish it and will always hold it near and dear to my mind and heart…it is mine and no one can take that away from me; it is mine as long as I nourish it with prayer, scripture study, searching and learning about our Heavenly Father as much as possible...to know Him is to love Him. I believe that Heavenly Father is in full control of every minute detail of the existence of our Universe; not for one minute do I think anything just 'happened'. I don't understand how Christ accomplished all of it - under the direction of His Father...but it is a great deal easier for me to believe in the Two of Them than in The Big Bang Theory. It is beyond my capability to even image how carbon, hydrogen, nitrogen, oxygen, and or sulfur could possible come together 'by chance' and form a molecule in any length of time - to evolve into life after so many million years. Charles E. Guye, a Swiss mathematician, made a computation and found the odds against such an occurrence are 10 to the 160th ... and that is just a chance for one molecule - it would be phenomenal for a whole body let alone a Universe. They ask way too much for me to believe such a theory. We are confined to this Universe until God sees fit to let us do otherwise. I have been taught that Life is unique, we will never have this experience again, it is as important to us as the Eternities are to the Gods. I think we will really regret wasting our time and energies on un-important things. Spiritual growth is not a by-product, we must pursue it as if our Eternities depended on it.

How I live my faith

The attitude we have toward our life and those around us is a reflection of our Love toward Heavenly Father and His Son. We must believe in the best version of ourself....Heavenly Father is. I am grateful that I have such great advocates for me personally, who want the best for me ...those include Pres. Thomas S. Monson, Pres. David O. McKay, Pres. Gordon B. Hinckley, the Prophet Joseph Smith, and many others who are anxious for my success. Whatever I do, I try to do my very best and I want the best for those around me. I like people and I know there are many cherished friends I have not met in this Life....but I will. I have been working in the Mission Office for the last year and I love doing all I can to support the Missionaries in their efforts of serving our Lord. I am going to the Employment Center and work over there now. I love teaching class in Relief Society or Young Womens or Primary. I was a Den Leader in the BSA for 22 years and loved it as did all of my six sons. I believe we chose this dispensation of time because we said we would do genealogy and temple work...and whenever possible I will encourage and help anyone I can to get at least five generation done on both sides. I have a testimony of Tithing - if my Church did not offer anything else to me, I would be a member for this one reason only. It has taught me to live within my means and be grateful and happy for what I have. Living with the advice given in the Word of Wisdom is one of the most intelligent choices I have ever made. I appreciate my good health because I live this law and it afforts me the opportunity to use my body doing good in this Life. Trials help us see what kind of person we are by how we treat other people. Elder M. R. Ballard spoke about: We prepare each day for Eternal Life - if we are not preparing ...then we are setting ourselves up for something far less. There are many wonderful people in this Church who seek after the same things as I do.
