Hi I'm Susan

I am a wife, mother, and grandmother. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a mother of 5 grown children and a grandmother of 11 grandkids. I love playing and spending time with my family. We go camping together and love to make s'mores at night around the campfire. I teach seminary and love to learn about my Heavenly Father. One of my favorite hobbies is researching my ancestors and finding out about my heritage.

Why I am a Mormon

My family joined the church when I was a girl. I was raised methodist. My favorite song as a girl was, "This little light of mine, I'm gonna let it shine". I knew when the missionaries taught our family the gospel that I could feel something very different in my heart, and that they could answer my questions about what happens to us when we die. After being baptized I have continued having questions about things in my life but have always been able to find my answers in the scriptures and then have prayed and asked my Father in Heaven if what I learned is true. As I have done this I have gained a sure knowledge that this church is lead by a loving Father in Heaven and his son Jesus Christ. I know they know me personally and understand my desires in life. I have felt the Holy Ghost witness this to me. I know without any doubt that this in the only church that has the true priesthood of God on this earth. I love the peace that I feel knowing that I can pray and talk to God personally and that he will hear and answer my prayers. I know that this church is God's true church on the earth at this time and wish that you could know and feel the joy this brings to your heart.

How I live my faith

At this time in my life I have the wonderful opportunity to get up at 5am everymorning and go teach the youth ages 14 to 18 before school in a class called Seminary. These kids are so wonderful and dedicated to learn the gospel. We study the Bible along with the other standard scriptures. These kids learn and master 25 scriptures each year of high school for a total of 100 scriptures. They learn why the scriptures can help them in their life and how to study and understand God's teachings in them. I love learning along with these young people. I also like to do service in my community by taking meals to someone who is sick or needs some help. I like to work at the food bank and help with community clean up projects. Helping others teaches me more about myself and God's love for me.

How is the Book of Mormon different from the Bible? How did Joseph Smith obtain the “golden plates” or Book of Mormon?

I know the Book of Mormon is the word of God as is the Bible and that they work together to help us know all of the knowledge that God wants us to learn to be able to return to be with him again someday. I know that the information in the Book of Mormon was given especially for us in this time to help us to understand the hardship and wickedness that is in the world today and how we can overcome the wickedness of this world. I know without doubt that Joseph Smith was given the plates and that he was able to translate them from the ancient language that was used in the time just before Jeruselums destruction in the Bible. This book is a history about a group of people that left Jeruselum and came to the American continent and what happened to them and then there distruction. It is stories much like the Bible. I know if you read this book with a sincere desire to know about what is in it and then pray and ask God if this book is truly his book of scripture, the Holy Ghost will let you know that it is and that Joseph Smith was a true prophet of God. That God helped him to bring about the restoration of the true gospel upon this earth at this time. Show more Show less
